At BIO International Convention, Companies Eye Relocation to DFW

At the 2022 BIO International Conference in San Diego, representatives from North Texas met "the greatest minds in biotechnology"—and discovered some of them are interested in relocating their companies to DFW.

"We connected with them to explore opportunities and increase investments in the Dallas region,” said a VP with the Dallas Regional Chamber.

Dallas-Founded Biopharma Firm Raises $120M to Expand its Pipeline

ReCode Therapeutics, a biopharmaceutical startup using a non-viral lipid nanoparticle delivery platform for gene therapies, has closed a $120 million extension to a funding round it raised last year to help bring its lead programs to human trials and “follow the science” to target new diseases. With a research team working out of BioLabs' life sciences facility at Pegasus Park, ReCode aims to grow its global team from about 70 to 100 over the next year.

Sherman Picked for New $5B Silicon Wafer Plant, Bringing 1,500 New Jobs to North Texas

Beating out potential sites in Ohio and South Korea, the city of Sherman was selected today by GlobiTech for a new $5 billion, 3.2 million-square-foot silicon wafer facility. The plant could eventually produce more than 1 million silicon wafers monthly when production begins by 2025. It's Sherman's second big manufacturing win in a month. Just weeks ago, Texas Instruments broke ground in the city on new semiconductor wafer fabrication plants with a potential $30 billion investment.
