Abstract: Pattern-dependent random deviations in measurement of optimal focus distances can be minimized by separating scan paths into multiple types of scan paths that scan only a respective predetermined image region in semiconductor dies. A substrate including in-process semiconductor dies is coated with a photoresist layer, and is located onto a stage in a lithographic exposure tool. Maps of optimal focus distances are generated by performing optimal focus distance scans that cover a respective subset of image regions having distinct image patterns. The substrate can be leveled with respect to an optics system of the lithographic exposure tool employing a weighted average of multiple maps of optimal focus distances. Once the substrate is leveled on the stage, a lithographic exposure process can be performed with enhanced uniformity in the focus distances across the in-process semiconductor dies.

Streaming engine with fetch ahead hysteresis
Patent No. 10209887

Inventor(s): Matthew Pierson (Murphy, TX)
Assignee(s): TEXAS INSTRUMENTS INCORPORATED (Dallas, TX)
Law Firm: No Counsel
Application No., Date, Speed: 15384416 on 12/20/2016 (791 days app to issue)

Abstract: This invention controls accesses to a shared memory or resource to be bursty. An access controller determines whether the number of accesses ready for issue N is less than a current buffer capacity M. If so, the access controller issues all ready accesses. Otherwise, the access controller determines if the current buffer capacity M is less than a hysteresis amount R. If the current buffer capacity M is less than the hysteresis amount R, the access controller waits. If the current buffer capacity M is greater than or equal the hysteresis amount R, the access controller issues R accesses. This serves to bunch accesses to the hysteresis amount R when buffer capacity constrained. A streaming engine recalls a fixed data stream of plural nested loops specified by a control register for storage until use.

Assignee(s): TEXAS INSTRUMENTS INCORPORATED (Dallas, TX)
Law Firm: No Counsel
Application No., Date, Speed: 15730893 on 10/12/2017 (495 days app to issue)

Abstract: This invention involves a particular cache hazard. It is possible that an instruction request that is a miss in the cache occurs while the cache system is servicing a pending prefetch for the same instructions. In the prior art, this hazard is detected by comparing request addresses for all entries in a scoreboard. The program memory controller stores the allocated way in the scoreboard. The program memory controller compares the allocated way of the demand request to the allocated way of all the scoreboard entries. The cache hazard only occurs when the allocated ways match. Following way compare, the demand request address is compared to the request addresses of only those scoreboard entries having matching ways. Other address comparators are not powered during this time. This serves to reduce the electrical power required in detecting this cache hazard.

Application No., Date, Speed: 15492212 on 04/20/2017 (670 days app to issue)

Abstract: A system for encoding and decoding a frame (also file), such as a video, graphic, media, or other frame or data, representing a real-time graphic output from a frame buffer, output by a video camera, or another file or data. The file includes frames each comprising macroblocks. Reference frame buffers (PFTs), virtual frame buffer tables (VFTBs) of equal number to the PFTs, each VFTB corresponds to a respective PFT, and respective sectors of each PFT for respective macroblocks are created. Frames of the file are encoded/decoded by successive encode/decode of macroblocks. A pointer is created in the VFBT associated with the PFT rather than encoding/decoding any matching macroblock. The pointer and its reference are relied on for each already encoded/decoded macroblock retained in the PFT. Processing, memory, bandwidth and power requirements for encoding or decoding are reduced.
