South by Southwest has opened its 2023 "PanelPicker" for crowd-sourced community voting through August 21. You could be among the people who vote to decide which panelists will take the stage next March at SXSW. Out of the thousands of session proposals up for voting, many have Dallas-area ties. ‘Data for Good’: Addison-based HundredX Surpasses $10M in Donations for 700+ Causes

HundredX—an AI-powered, crowd-sourced market share strategy company based in Addison—gives money to nonprofits in exchange for feedback from the nonprofits' community members on the more than 2,500 businesses on HundredX’s platform.

Toshiba’s Retail Division Plans New Innovation and Incubation Hub in Frisco’s Hall Park

Toshiba Global Commerce Solutions says its new Frisco hub will help it increase investments in areas like cloud development, computer vision, and retail IoT. The hub will also enable it to “incubate new retail innovation" from its new 14,000-square-foot space. Toshiba is bringing 50 new jobs to the region in 2022 with plans to expand the team to 150 within two years. They'll be joining a 10,000 worker pool at Hall Park, which launched a $7B redevelopment last October.

NPower Texas Expands Free Tech Fundamentals Program to Dallas-Fort Worth

The extended deadline to apply for Fall 2022 is August 15. NPower Texas is the state arm of a national nonprofit offering free tech training to 18- to 26-year-olds and military veterans and spouses.

80% of the program's graduates find full-time jobs or continue their education—with an average salary boost of 384%. In March, philanthropist MacKenzie Scott donated $15 million to NPower, its largest donation ever.

An early donor of the research that led to the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine, Hill believes that "science is the answer"—and has chosen to donate the entirety of her estate to philanthropy and scientific research.

The computerized device offers biometric screening and real-time remote monitoring as it "accurately and securely" dispenses the medication.
