Local Business Legend Thomas O. Hicks To Join the Ranks of the Texas Business Hall of Fame

A leader in the local private equity and sports business space, Thomas O. Hicks will be inducted at a ceremony put on by the Texas Business Hall of Fame Foundation in early November, joining others from Houston and Austin. The former owner of the Dallas Stars and Texas Rangers, Hicks currently serves as the founder, chairman, and partner of local family office Hicks Holdings and as a senior partner and director at Dallas' The Beneficient Company Group. Hicks will join other local business legends like Mark Cuban and Ross Perot, Jr. in the Texas Business Hall of Fame, which has been inducting new members since 1983.

Tri Global Energy, Texas' leading developer of wind energy products, has been sold for $270 million to Enbridge, the largest energy company in Canada, the Dallas Morning News reported today. Since Billingsley founded the company in 2009, Tri Global has helped Texas become the nation's leader in wind energy capacity by developing and monetizing over 6 GW of utility scale renewable projects, the companies said. Tri Global is now among America's top utility-scale renewable energy developers.

Husband-and-wife co-founders Patrick and Jennifer Coddou launched their men's grooming startup Supply out of their spare bedroom, stored products in their garage, and shipped from their laundry room. After raising $256K on Kickstarter and getting a $300K investment on ABC's "Shark Tank," they expanded their business. Now, with the acquisition by Foundry Brands, Patrick is living what he calls the most attainable American Dream: "Have an idea, work your tail off for years, scale it to millions, sell it for millions," he wrote on Twitter.
