WorkSuites Opens its 20th Coworking Location With a Focus on Private Offices

WorkSuites knows it's not an ideal time to open another coworking space—but it's making precautions to ensure the new spot in Allen is equipped for social distancing.

WorkSuites “can’t imagine worse timing” to open another coworking location than the coronavirus pandemic. But, regardless, the Dallas-based flexible office company is moving forward with opening its 20th location in Allen.

COVID-19 originally delayed the announcement, especially considering pre-leasing for the space has been virtually nonexistent for the past two months. But, WorkSuites says it’s built each space with an emphasis on private offices versus communal coworking—an especially important method during the healthcare outbreak.

“Most people—including us—are confident that this crisis will cause an acceleration in the trend away from long-term lease commitments and toward the flexibility that coworking and flexible workspaces provide,” CEO Flip Howard said in a statement. “For the foreseeable future, I think individual, private offices rather than large rooms packed with coworking desks are a no-brainer.”

Howard predicts the coworking industry will come back stronger than ever despite the hit it took.

The new 19,706-square-foot space will open with extra precautions in place. Members will be able to remain six feet apart in the 85 individual private offices, and for the communal spaces and common areas, WorkSuites has made modifications to ensure social distancing.

The Allen location will officially open on June 1, but WorkSuites plans to forgo a grand-opening party. It sits across the street from the Watters Creek area, near retail, dining, and living options.

“You don’t have to be a real estate expert to notice things are buzzing along I-75 between Plano and McKinney,” Howard said. “This area of town is a perfect match for WorkSuites’ culture—it’s somewhere between hipsters riding their bikes to WeWork and retired executives driving an Oldsmobile to Regus.”

The newest opening comes on the heels of WorkSuites opening its largest Dallas location yet off of the Central Expressway just north of downtown Dallas.
