TV Personality Bevy Smith will Host Big Thought’s BIG NIGHT Fundraiser

Like all the others, the Deep Ellum location offers interactive, digital games played by groups in "fun smart rooms." As you can see from the goggle-less players above, it's not about AR or virtual reality. Instead, the "gameboxes" feature a range of tech including projection mapping, touch screens using the company's patented Lidar, 3D motion tracking, and surround sound.

From a black-tie kickoff on January 19 to a parade, a music festival, a storytelling summit, and more, the Deep Ellum neighborhood just east of downtown Dallas is gearing up for a 2023 to remember. Known as the "birthplace of the blues in Texas," the district buzzes with live music, street art, galleries, restaurants, clubs, and culturally creative retail.
The sesquicentennial will bring something new: the opening of the Deep Ellum Community Cultural Center. It's just one way 2023 will "shape the neighborhood’s future as a continued mecca for creatives, entrepreneurs, and all comers," says a Deep Ellum Foundation leader.

Over 150 scientists across dozens of departments will be part of the elite National Institutes of Health-funded, university-wide interdisciplinary research center. Dallas' UT Southwestern Medical Center is the only institution in Texas to be selected for the NIH initiative.

Forty years after founding the Mozzarella Company in Dallas, Paula Lambert is being honored with a Grand Dame Lifetime Achievement Award from Les Dames d'Escoffier International.
"It means the world to me literally, because it's an international award, and because I was selected by my peers," Lambert told Dallas Innovates. "My life is very rich because of the wonderful people I've met through our cheeses over the past 40 years."

The Mark Cuban Cost Plus Drug Company is building an $11M, 22,000SF drug manufacturing plant in Dallas' Deep Ellum, aiming to "disrupt and disable big pharma." The startup plans to launch an online pharmacy selling 100 of the most commonly prescribed generic prescription drugs at a 15 percent markup plus a $3 dispensing fee.
