Pop Star Jason Derulo Is Launching an Omaha Franchise of the Frisco-Based Pro Volleyball Federation

Partnering with Omaha businessman Danny White, Derulo—who's sold more than 250 million singles worldwide—is making Omaha, Nebraska, the second city to be announced so far for the Frisco-based women's pro volleyball league.
Dallas Innovates wrote about the new league in November. It's just one of many sports leagues and businesses—from pickleball to the PGA to esports to high-tech soccer entertainment—that are proving the future of sports is in North Texas.

Those issues have led to what Badrina calls "the 3,000-mile salad."

Texas Governor Gives Agencies Deadline to Implement Plan Banning TikTok

Texas Governor Greg Abbott has put state agencies on the clock to implement policies that would prohibit the downloading or use of apps such as TikTok on state-owned devices.
Abbott announced the statewide model security plan Monday for Texas state agencies to address vulnerabilities presented by the use of TikTok and other software on personal and state-issued devices. Each state agency will have until February 15 to implement its own policy to enforce this statewide plan. “The security risks associated with the use of TikTok on devices used to conduct the important business of our state must not be underestimated or ignored,” Abbott said.

Bear Robotics makes table bussing, food running, and drink-serving hospitality robots that have wheeled meals to tables in Chili's restaurants and other eateries across the country. Headquartered in Redwood City, California, with a second office in Addison, Bear was one of more than 20 restaurant tech companies that vied for entry in US Foods' incubator program. Bear's successful demos and operator interest led US Foods to add the company to its nationwide Business Tools program.

Aurora Innovation—which is partnering on autonomous freight trucking runs between Dallas, Houston, and El Paso every day—has appointed Ossa Fisher as its president. Fisher joins the company from Istation, a Dallas-based e-learning company.
