The Belgium-born brewer, who sold his first keg of beer in 2012, cut the cord to his ad-world career and never looked back. Ten years later, Lakewood Brewery is a family-owned success with a lineup of award-winning craft beers. Every beer starts with a kernel of an idea, Bens says. His taproom has an R&D system in place so Lakewood’s "mad scientist brewers" can explore new styles and flavors.

BreadEx Founder and CEO Uma Iyer sliced into the bread biz early in the pandemic, when her Plano pastry shop Tart-a-Licious struggled amid lockdowns. She delivered artisan breads directly to homes, with proceeds benefiting laid-off restaurant workers. After launching BreadEx as a Tart-a-Licious sideline later in 2020, she slowly grew its services. Now she's relaunched BreadEx as her sole focus—aiming to be the FedEx of bread, one door at a time.

UK Soccer Experience TOCA Social Coming to Dallas Design District

The first TOCA Social launched last August in London, attracting cast members from "Ted Lasso" and top Premier League players. The Dallas location, slated to open in 2023, will offer a three-floor, 56K-SF experience of dining, drinks, and interactive soccer games in 34 "TOCA boxes." The top two floors and their huge decks will offer "bonkers" views of the Dallas skyline—and may be a magnet for corporate events.

Downtown Arlington’s Urban Union Live‑Work‑Play District Is Expanding

The expansion will result in a five-city-block attraction for downtown Arlington.
