DFW Innovation Economy: Here’s How We Stack Up as a Global Hub for Innovation

Homegrown ingenuity is the heartbeat of innovation, and Voices writer Eric Griffin presents a deeper look at how Dallas-Fort Worth stacks up as a global hub for innovation in a 10-part series.

The DFW Innovation Economy series takes a deeper look at how Dallas-Fort Worth stacks up as a global hub for innovation. This multi-part series examines the key factors that impact the region’s ability to innovate, including the DFW business climate, workforce, support for new ideas, attraction of talent, and more.

The series takes a look at chapters from the 2018 Innovation Assessment produced by the Dallas Regional Chamber (DRC) and Accenture. Each chapter of the Assessment highlights key metrics that can be tracked over time to evaluate the strength of DFW’s innovation economy in relation to competitor metropolitan areas. Measures related to patent production, venture capital flows, educational attainment, business climate and various metropolitan rankings help to paint a picture of our innovation-driven economic growth potential.
