Transplace Acquires Leading Parcel Management Provider to Expand its Logistics Platform

The strategic move will add seamless parcel and eCommerce capabilities to Frisco-based Transplace's multimodal platform.

One of the country’s top providers of logistics technology and services, Transplace, has announced an acquisition that will boost its tech and expand its capabilities.

In acquiring ScanData Systems Inc, Frisco-based Transplace will be able to enhance its platform.

Austin-based ScanData is a leader in parcel transportation management solutions (PTMS) that has a multi-carrier, parcel shipping solution. The enterprise-class tech is able to streamline and optimize carrier selection, booking, label printing, tracking, invoice reconciliation, and Business Intelligence reporting at scale.

Transplace’s industry-leading Transportation Management System (TMS) and broader logistics platform will be integrated with ScanData’s PTMS capabilities. Transplace operates a proprietary logistics platform and provides engineering and execution services for shippers globally.

Its services are used in a variety of industries: automotive, chemical, consumer packaged goods, electronics and technology, energy, manufacturing, oil and gas, and retail.

ScanData’s parcel transportation management solutions will help Transplace support shippers’ eCommerce and DTC needs, Transplace CEO Frank McGuigan said. At the same time, the duo will be able to increase operational efficiencies and customer satisfaction while optimizing transportation spend.

eCommerce is a must-have for the growth strategy of most businesses in this day and age. Transplace customers will be able to save costs with the combination of the two companies.

ScanData covers shipping and logistics across a parcel’s entire life cycle, with a specialty in high volumes and complex shipping rules. It works with some of the largest Fortune 500 companies and globally recognized brands in the retail and eCommerce industries.

Specifically, ScanData says it optimizes more than 400 million parcels valued at over $2 billion annually.

“This is a landmark event for ScanData and our customers because the combination of our offering with Transplace’s world-class Logistics Platform allows us to better optimize the complete transportation needs of clients regardless of mode while boosting on-time performance and customer satisfaction,” Wes Breyfogle, CEO of ScanData, said in a statement.

Earlier this year, Transplace acquired Green Bay, Wisconsin-based Lanehub, a cloud-based platform and community created to encourage shipper-carrier collaborations.
