Communities Foundation of Texas Launches $50M Initiative to Tackle Dallas’ Housing Crisis

The foundation's initial housing strategy centers around three pillars: partnership and policy, production, and preservation—a combination of strategies it said has proven effective in other cities. More than $4 million in early grants and investments have already been made, amid hopes that future matching grants could create "a $100 million Housing Impact Fund dedicated to lasting change."

According to the latest MSCI Inc. estimate, more than $42.5 billion in commercial properties were sold in DFW in 2022. North Texas “wrested the top slot from Manhattan at the onset of the pandemic and has held it ever since,” MSCI analysts said in the report.
Dallas-based CBRE was the top-ranked firm for commercial real estate investment sales nationally in 2022—for the 17th straight year.

The newly rebranded APTVEST says it evaluates, buys, renovates, and manages North Texas multifamily properties in-house. Its online platform enables investors to place funds in multifamily properties with "the click of a button," with historical investment minimums of $25K to $100K per investor.
“As we surveyed the multifamily investment industry trajectory, we felt it necessary to brand up and think about the future," said Kevin Parrish, APTVEST founder and co-managing partner.
