Kitchen LTO is Going to ‘Pop Up’ in Deep Ellum

The Kitchen LTO will open in Deep Ellum roughly three months after closing the Trinity Groves location.

Kitchen LTO will have a new permanent location in Deep Ellum that could open by mid-October, just three months after closing the Trinity Groves location.

Owner and founder Casie Caldwell signed a lease for the former Twenty-Seven Restaurant and Bar at 2901 Elm St. The new 2,000-square-foot space will feature up-and-coming chefs on a six-month rotation, hence the LTO name (Limited Time Only).

She’s already got the first chef ready to go, but she can’t say who it is, yet.

“It will be the same concept, just a different location,” Caldwell said. “Our whole business is built on change for the very reason of helping chefs that are in the shadows. They’re just waiting for an opportunity to showcase their stuff.”

The new restaurant will have one main dining room and a private dining room, which may open later.

Caldwell also hopes to tap into the Deep Ellum art vibe with a special gallery that will showcase local artists. The new location will have proper lighting and a tablet where people can learn more about the artist.

“We want it to be a place where artists really want to come and show,” Caldwell said. “We help them sell. We really feature them just as much as we do the food.”


Right now, Caldwell is busy with the finish out of the new location and hiring employees. She estimates Kitchen LTO will create 25 new jobs. It will be open for lunch and dinner and brunch on the weekends.

A Kickstarter campaign gave Kitchen LTO fans a chance to pre-buy their experience and get different rewards.

“Everybody’s been really supportive and helpful,” she said. “I eat sleep and drink this right now. That’s what happens when you’re opening a restaurant.”

The Dallas Observer reported that Chef Nick Amoriello had been slated to run Kitchen LTO at its Trinity Grove location into September. Amoriello, who previously has been executive sous chef at Rapscallion, told the Observer he would be taking a break while looking for his next opportunity.
