IKEA Is Opening a New Small-Format Store in Southlake, Its First in Texas

IKEA "Plan & Order Point" that will offer  home interior inspiration and personalized kitchen, bedroom, and living room planning, along with online order pickups. At just under 11,000 feet, it's an IKEA you actually might not get lost in.

If you’ve walked through one of IKEA’s two North Texas stores in Frisco or Grand Prairie, you know it’s not just a stroll—it’s a seemingly endless trek through maze-like aisles of Swedish-designed home goods, furniture, kitchen and bath displays, and more. Which makes the idea of a “small-format” IKEA store sound like the opposite of jumbo shrimp.

But just such a store is coming to Southlake—an IKEA “Plan & Order Point” that will offer home interior inspiration and personalized kitchen, bedroom, and living room planning, along with online order pickups. The doors on the right above will be the entry for the design planning and ordering. Whatever customers order there can either be home-delivered or snagged later through the doors on the left at an IKEA Pickup Point.

At just under 11,000 square feet, this is an IKEA you might actually not get lost in.

“Everything is bigger in Texas, but it doesn’t have to be further,” Rob Parsons, market area manager for IKEA U.S., said in a statement. “While the Plan & Order point with pick-up is different from our traditional IKEA store, we’re continuously exploring new ways to bring IKEA closer to our customers and hope it will better meet the needs of our local customers.”

Javier Quiñones, CEO and chief sustainability officer of IKEA U.S., said the aim is to grow IKEA’s DFW presence while offering customers “convenience and accessibility.”

“Whether you’re looking for inspiration, need help from an IKEA design specialist, or simply want to pick up an online order, the IKEA Southlake Plan & Order point with Pick-up meets our customers where they are and how they like to shop,” Quiñones added.

The store will be located in the Park Village shopping center at 1041 E. Southlake Blvd. and is slated to open later this year.
