Irving-based Builders FirstSource and Vancouver, Washington-based startup Digs plan to build an AI-equipped platform that generates a “digital twin” of a home.
Builders FirstSource, a supplier of building products and services, led a $25.3 million Series A round for Digs to back their partnership. The startup makes AI software for residential construction.
Under a five-year deal, the companies will strengthen Builders FirstSource’s digital platform for homebuilders. They also will add new capabilities for homeowners. Builders FirstSource said it serves more than 140,000 customers.
“Our customers are looking for seamless technology that helps them operate more efficiently and deliver a better homeowner experience,” Peter Jackson, CEO of Builders FirstSource, said in a statement.
Streamlining homebuilding and homeownership
The partners aim to improve Builders FirstSource’s digital tools using Digs’ AI. The goal: Turn thousands of construction documents into one source covering plans, specifications, selections, products, approvals, warranties and project history. Homebuilders can tap into this information to carry out estimating, purchasing, construction, design, sales and home care, the companies said.
The shared project record eventually will include AI chats, files, e-signatures, QR codes, comments, tasks and project collaborations, the partners said. In addition, the platform will offer AI-powered diagramming, finish selections and other homeowner-related features.
Innovations for the home
Once a builder finishes a home, the platform will create a tailored homeowner’s guide for maintenance, warranties and custom services.
The companies said this will give homeowners more transparency during construction and generate “a complete digital twin of their home that continues delivering value long after move-in.”

Builders FirstSource, with roughly 565 locations in 43 states, supplies building products and value-added services for construction, repairs and remodeling.
Fink and Ty Frackiewicz founded Digs in 2022. The tech and construction veterans said they started the company to rid the industry of old pen-and-paper methods. Digs’ AI-powered platform digitizes and streamlines the homebuilding process for builders, homeowners and others.
