Dallas Tech Unicorn Names Cybersecurity, Software Sales Veteran As President

With an eye on global growth, Dallas-based Island has appointed Steve Tchejeyan, a seasoned executive with stints at Symantec, Blue Coat Systems, Intel Security, and Cisco, to spearhead its Enterprise Browser business. The move underscores Island's ambition to redefine the landscape of enterprise work solutions, combining security and productivity in innovative ways.

Island, the Dallas-based tech unicorn startup valued at $1.3 billion in 2022 has named Steve Tchejeyan president of the company that is a leader and pioneer in the Enterprise Browser market.

The company said that Tchejeyan brings decades of executive leadership experience driving successful business strategies and growth initiatives for some of the world’s leading technology and cybersecurity companies.

“Expanding Island’s leadership bench is important to ensure we meet the tremendous demand for our innovative Enterprise Browser, as companies in every sector and industry seek new approaches to securing and enabling workers in today’s radically transformed workplace,” Island CEO and co-founder Mike Fey said in a statement.

“Steve is one of the top GTM executives in software and will be joining a great team he is familiar with, bringing additional expertise and energy as we look to scale globally.”

Tchejeyan’s appointment comes as part of Island’s strategic push to meet the growing demand for its unique Enterprise Browser solution. In his role as president, Tchejeyan will spearhead efforts to scale Island’s business operations globally, the company said.

Before joining Island, Tchejeyan was chief revenue officer for Forescout Technologies Inc. With over two decades in cybersecurity, he has held several sales and executive leadership positions with technology leaders including Symantec, Blue Coat Systems, Intel Security, and Cisco.

Tchejeyan says Island’s Enterprise Browser has carved out a niche for itself as a revolutionary solution in the enterprise workspace.

The new president calls it “a game-changing enterprise work solution, capturing the imaginations of CISOs and CIOs alike for its unique ability to boost productivity while enabling seamless enterprise controls and security.”

“I’m excited to bring my extensive, cross-sector technology and business experience to the Island team to further fuel growth,” Tchejeyan said in a statement.

The announcement of Tchejeyan’s appointment follows several industry-first innovations from Island, such as enterprise-grade Data Loss Prevention (DLP) features for generative AI applications, the first password manager integrated into an enterprise browser, and unmatched built-in self-protection capabilities.

In May, Island introduced Self-Protection for its Enterprise Browser, which the startup called a fundamentally new approach and level of security for enterprise work.

Island said its new offering is the ideal solution for organizations with extremely sensitive data and applications, to ensure safe operation even on devices beyond the organization’s control and traditional protections.
