Abstract: In one embodiment, example systems and methods relate to a manner of providing lane curvature estimations. As vehicles travel, lane curvature estimates for lane segments as provided by the vehicle lane curvature estimation systems are collected. The estimated lane curvatures and the actual paths of the vehicles as they traveled in the lane segments are used as training data for a model that can both determine if a lane curvature estimate for a lane segment is likely incorrect and provide a correct lane curvature estimate. When a vehicle later travels such a lane segment, the model can be used to provide the vehicle with a correct lane curvature estimate. The correct estimate can be used by the vehicle in place of an estimate generated by the existing lane curvature estimation system of the vehicle.

Abstract: A body can be configured to be selectively morphable. The body can be at least partially hollow. The body can include a surface. A shape memory material member, such as a shape memory alloy wire, can extend along the surface. The shape memory material member can include a first region, a second region, and a central region located between the first region and the second region. The first and second regions of the shape memory material member can be constrained on the surface, such as by stitches. The central region of the shape memory material member can be unconstrained on the surface. When activated, the shape memory material member can contact, causing the body to bend in the central region due being constrained in the first and second regions. Thus, the body can be morphed into an activated configuration.

Predictive maintenance of refrigeration cases
Patent No. 10935309

Inventor(s): Benjamin Grisz (Dallas, TX), Jacob T. Griffith (Dallas, TX)
Assignee(s): International Business Machines Corporation (Armonk, NY)
Law Firm: No Counsel
Application No., Date, Speed: 16368950 on 03/29/2019 (704 days app to issue)

Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention disclose a method, a computer program product, and a computer system for predictive maintenance of refrigeration cases. A computer collects a temperature time series for a refrigeration case and, based on the temperature time series, learns a refrigeration case signature for both non-frost and defrost cycles. The computer generates features based on the refrigeration case signature and compares the refrigeration case signature to real time, or observed, temperatures and features using a rule-based and/or machine learning framework. Based on determining that the real time data varies beyond a threshold from the refrigeration case signature, the computer identifies a failure symptom of the refrigeration case and diagnoses a root cause of the symptom or failure. In addition, the computer may activate an alarm and open a work order corresponding to the root cause of the symptom or failure.

Calibratable door status indication system
Patent No. 10935362

Inventor(s): Stephen Lawrence Dillier (Irving, TX)
Assignee(s): UNASSIGNED
Law Firm: No Counsel
Application No., Date, Speed: 16425802 on 05/29/2019 (643 days app to issue)

Abstract: An sensor unit has an analog Hall-effect sensor coupled to a microprocessor containing an analog to digital converter. It is mounted to the frame of a cell door. A magnet is mounted to the cell door so that when the door is closed, they are in close-proximity. A calibration initiates the storage of digital voltage signal presented by the Hall-effect sensor, via an analog to digital converter, when the cell door is closed. This door-closed value is constantly compared to the current value based on the position of the cell door. If this value deviates within preset limitations of the stored value, the sensor unit signals a fault condition to a connected central control panel which sends a ”door ajar” notification to a designated user”s cell phone as well as activating a local alarm.

Assignee(s): TEXAS INSTRUMENTS INCORPORATED (Dallas, TX)
Law Firm: No Counsel
Application No., Date, Speed: 16252262 on 01/18/2019 (774 days app to issue)

Abstract: Authentication of a networked device with limited computational resources for secure communications over a network. Authentication of the device begins with the supplicant node transmitting a signed digital certificate with its authentication credentials to a proxy node. Upon verifying the certificate, the proxy node then authenticates the supplicant”s credentials with an authentication server accessible over the network, acting as a proxy for the supplicant node. Typically, this verification includes decryption according to a public/private key scheme. Upon successful authentication, the authentication server creates a session key for the supplicant node and communicates it to the proxy node. The proxy node encrypts the session key with a symmetric key, and transmits the encrypted session key to the supplicant node which, after decryption, uses the session key for secure communications. In some embodiments, the authentication server encrypts the session key with the symmetric key.

Abstract: A device may determine a coverage area associated with a base station. The device may determine a handover weight associated with one or more user equipments (UEs) connected to the base station in the coverage area, wherein the handover weight indicates a degree of mobility of the one or more UEs. The device may identify a geographic region associated with the coverage area and may determine information concerning the geographic region that includes information concerning one or more roads in the geographic region. The device may determine a mobility rating associated with the coverage area based on the handover weight or the information concerning the geographic region. The device may select a beam management profile based on the mobility rating and may send the beam management profile to a different device to allow the different device to control the base station according to the beam management profile.

Optical window with integrated temperature sensing
Patent No. 10939596

Inventor(s): Catherine Trent (Allen, TX), Gary A. Frazier (Garland, TX)
Assignee(s): RAYTHEON COMPANY (Waltham, MA)
Law Firm: Lando Anastasi, LLP (1 non-local offices)
Application No., Date, Speed: 16537214 on 08/09/2019 (571 days app to issue)

Abstract: Methods and apparatus for measuring and optionally adjusting the temperature profile of an optical window. In one example, an optical window with integrated temperature sensing functionality includes a first window layer of an optically transparent material, a second window layer of the optically transparent material, an electromagnetic interference shielding grid disposed between the first and second window layers and including a first electrically conductive structure and a second electrically conductive structure, and a thermally sensitive material disposed between the first and second electrically conductive structures, the thermally sensitive material having an electrical property that varies as a function of temperature.
