Abstract: An integrated circuit and method are provided for accurately measuring the temperature of a die of the integrated circuit. Pairs of diodes are driven with different currents in order to generate a series of thermal voltages. The ADC measures the series of thermal voltages against an external reference voltage. Based on these thermal voltage measurements, the ADC calculates the die temperature. The different currents used to generate the series of thermal voltages are selected at specific ratios to each other in order to promote the ability of the ability of the ADC to calculate the die temperature using standard components and logic of an ADC. These thermal voltages are generated and measured using integrated components of the die for which a temperature measurement is being provided, thus reducing several sources of inaccuracies in conventional die temperature measurement techniques. Addition embodiments are provided for detecting defective diodes based on comparisons of the thermal voltage outputs.

System and method for providing extending femtocell coverage
Patent No. 10362523

Inventor(s): Christopher Martin Edward Osborn (Allen, TX)
Assignee(s): OPEN INVENTION NETWORK LLC (Durham, NC)
Law Firm: No Counsel
Application No., Date, Speed: 15817933 on 11/20/2017 (610 days app to issue)

Abstract: Femtocell coverage can be extended across a coverage area by providing a cluster of femtocell access points (FAPs). Each FAP is independently registered with a core network and provisioned with a location area code common to each FAP. At hand-in from the macrocell network, an association is made between the mobile station and the hand-in FAP, which becomes an anchor FAP for the duration of the mobile station”s presence within the cluster. Calls between the mobile station and the core network are routed via a servicing FAP of the cluster and the anchor FAP.

Patent No. 10362586

Inventor(s): Diana Maamari (Rolling Meadows, IL), George Calcev (Hoffman Estates, IL), Majid Ghanbarinejad (Rolling Meadows, IL)
Assignee(s): Futurewei Technologies, Inc. (Plano, TX)
Law Firm: Slater Matsil, LLP (Local + 1 other metros)
Application No., Date, Speed: 15267425 on 09/16/2016 (1040 days app to issue)

Abstract: A method for channel reservation and communication using carrier sense multiple access (CSMA) with directional antennas in a wireless network. A source station (STA) may transmit a directional request to send (RTS) frame to a destination station before a data transmission. Upon receipt of the RTS frame, the destination STA may transmit a transmit network allocation vector (TNAV) frame instructing receiving stations not to perform transmissions toward the destination STA for a predefined period of time, which may include a channel quality measurement (CQM) period. The destination STA may transmit a directional clear-to-send (CTS) frame when channel quality estimated during the CQM meets a criterion. The source STA may then transmit a directional data transmission to the destination STA upon receipt of the CTS frame.
