NPower Texas Expands Free Tech Fundamentals Program to Dallas-Fort Worth

The extended deadline to apply for Fall 2022 is August 15. NPower Texas is the state arm of a national nonprofit offering free tech training to 18- to 26-year-olds and military veterans and spouses.

80% of the program's graduates find full-time jobs or continue their education—with an average salary boost of 384%. In March, philanthropist MacKenzie Scott donated $15 million to NPower, its largest donation ever.

Bidding Wars Begone: Opendoor Exclusives Launches in DFW With ‘First‑Come, First‑Serve’ Home Shopping

Opendoor—a digital platform that buys and sells homes online—just launched Opendoor Exclusives in Dallas-Fort Worth, touting "off-market" homes at no-haggle prices during a 14-day window. The first buyer to click "buy" and sign a contract puts the home under contract.

Currently, three Texas metros are the only ones in the U.S. with the service. Opendoor plans to expand the program to all of its 50 markets nationwide.

Dallas’ Berkshire Biomedical Gets NIH Research Grant for Home Methadone Dispensing System

Berkshire's COPA System delivers automated at-home methadone doses to treat people with opioid use disorder. The computerized device offers biometric screening and real-time remote monitoring as it "accurately and securely" dispenses the medication. This can help patients avoid having to travel to clinics and wait in line for their treatment—often every single day. "These are people who want to get over their addiction," says president and CEO John Timberlake, who believes COPA can "help these patients maintain their jobs and get back into society."

The Last Word: Hillwood’s Reid Goetz on 1.7M SF of New Industrial in AllianceTexas
Dallas-based Hillwood has broken ground on two spec industrial buildings in its AllianceTexas development in Fort Worth. The two buildings will total around 1.7 million square feet with cross-dock configurations and 40-foot clear heights. In total, industrial development at AllianceTexas will add nearly 4 million square feet this year, Hillwood says.

Frisco Startup Homz Launches to Address Housing Shortage With Urban Communities Across the U.S.
