Report: Dallas Fed Sees Modest Growth, ‘Soft Landing’ for Texas

A report released today by the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas is headlined "Texas modestly grows with soft landing likely." The Dallas Fed goes on to note, "Texas firms reported below-average output growth to start 2023, while employment and wage gains remained elevated despite indications of a softening labor market." SCAAA, an architecture firm based in L.A., announced Wednesday that it's expanding with new studios in Dallas and Osaka, Japan.
"SCAAA works in dynamic regions," Song said in a statement. "Osaka is a cosmopolitan city in the heart of one of the world's 10 largest urban areas, while the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex is in the midst of a renaissance as a cultural and commercial hub.

A California-based Wells Fargo subsidiary, Wells Fargo Advisors, is leasing an 18,603-square-foot office in the newest high-rise at The Star development in Frisco.
According to a report by Steve Brown in the Dallas Morning News, Wells Fargo plans to start work in March on its offices at 17 Cowboys Way in the $1.5 billion development, with work slated to be completed by the fall.

Dallas-based alternative investment firm NexPoint has revealed details and renderings of its planned 200-acre TxS District, short for "Technology x Science." Centered on the former headquarters campus of EDS in Plano's Legacy development, the life sciences hub could eventually offer over 4 million square feet of lab, office, and therapeutic production space.
"Not only would this project be a major economic catalyst for the region, but it would also establish North Texas as a leader in life sciences," says James Dondero, NexPoint founder and principal.

Round-Rock based Dell has joined the Governing Council of the Richardson-based Hedera network—an open-source, enterprise-grade public ledger for the decentralized economy. As the 28th company on the council, Dell joins other leading organizations including Google, IBM, LG, Boeing, Ubisoft, Deutsche Telekom, and TATA Communications.
“By gaining hands-on experience with distributed ledger technology, we’re able to serve as a rational, holistic voice for customers considering incorporating DLT into their digital transformation," says John Roese, Dell's Global CTO.

Dallas-based Lincoln Property Company Commercial has announced the appointment of "a new generation of executive leadership" along with a major investment by funds managed by Stone Point Capital as part of Lincoln's international growth and succession plan.
David Binswanger and Clay Duvall will serve as co-CEOs, succeeding Lincoln Property founder and Chairman Mack Pogue and CEO and President Bill Duvall—both of whom will continue to have an ownership stake in Lincoln.

Texas Governor Greg Abbott has put state agencies on the clock to implement policies that would prohibit the downloading or use of apps such as TikTok on state-owned devices.
Abbott announced the statewide model security plan Monday for Texas state agencies to address vulnerabilities presented by the use of TikTok and other software on personal and state-issued devices. Each state agency will have until February 15 to implement its own policy to enforce this statewide plan. “The security risks associated with the use of TikTok on devices used to conduct the important business of our state must not be underestimated or ignored,” Abbott said.

Two months after selecting AECOM Hunt, Byrne Construction Services, and EJ Smith to manage “the full scope” of phase one of a major expansion of the Fort Worth Convention Center, the city's plans for the area could be getting even bigger.
An advisory committee of community stakeholders and project team representatives recently recommended that the city council spend an additional $43 million to realign Commerce Street, allowing for the development of a Convention Center District that could feature "a dynamic urban design mix of new shops, restaurants, and other experiences," the city said.

The tower is the second-tallest in Dallas and was designed by noted architect Philip Johnson and his partner John Burgee. Jonas Woods' Pacific Elm Properties recently took majority ownership of the building, and plans to convert 20 floors into apartments and a luxury hotel, according to the Dallas Morning News.
“We believe a mixed-use tower is much more likely to be successful today than a more than one million-square-foot office tower,” Woods told the DMN.
