Irving-based Commercial Metals Company has completed its acquisition of a Galveston-area metals recycling facility and related assets from Kodiak Resources and Kodiak Properties.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed. The facility processes approximately 55,000 tons of ferrous and non-ferrous materials annually, “with the majority of volumes related to obsolete ferrous scrap grades consumed by CMC’s long product mills,” the company said....

Online giant Amazon announced that it is offering a new service called Amazon Clinic that provides virtual "message-based" healthcare for more than 20 minor health conditions, adding another affordable healthcare option for more than 8.5 million people in North Texas.
Along with the company's Amazon Pharmacy service, Amazon Clinic joins Mark Cuban's Cost Plus Drug Company as a new, affordable healthcare option for North Texans.

In the November 8 election, Dallas voters approved a plan to build a new $1.2 billion Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center that will include a deck park over I-30, connecting the complex with The Cedars neighborhood south of downtown. Back in August, we showed you a sneak peek inside McLaren's new 31,000-square-foot Americas HQ in Coppell, just northwest of Dallas.
Over the weekend, the HQ had its official opening, and dozens of McLaren owners from throughout the region showed up to show off their own wheels—and lust after the rides on display in the HQ. One car that attracted more than one desirous glance was a $3 million Speedtail.

Island, a Dallas-based unicorn that emerged from stealth last February, was valued at $1.3 billion in March. It continues to attract big investments for its Enterprise Browser, which protects companies' SaaS tools and internal web apps from data leaks with a long list of security features.
"Being able to further validate our valuation, even with the headwinds facing the broader market, is an honor,” Island CEO and co-founder Mike Fey said.
