Prosper Writer Wins Prestigious Nebula Award

Aerospace industry veteran William Ledbetter bested five competitors to take home the science fiction literature prize in the "Best Novelette" category.

Prosper writer William Ledbetter has won one of the the most coveted awards in science fiction literature, according to D Magazine

The Nebula Awards are given annually by the Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America. Each year, members nominate their favorite works in the science fiction and fantasy genre.

Ledbetter, who used to work in the aerospace industry, bested five competitors — including fellow North Texas Bonnie Jo Stufflebeam — to take home the Nebula Award in the “Best Novelette” category. 

His sci-fi novelette, “The Long Fall Up,” explores the effect of zero-gravity on human physiology in future space colonies, according to D Magazine

Ledbetter told the magazine last month that he’s received no formal arts instruction. Since 2000, he’s had more than 50 stories and articles published.
