Frisco-based Complexity Gaming’s video game competitors and streamers participated in a fundraising event last week to support Extra Life through audience donations and by increasing awareness of Children’s Medical Network Hospitals’ needs.
This is just the beginning of Complexity’s partnership with Extra Life. The players and streamers plan to regularly visit and tour their local CMN Hospital. While at the hospital, they plan to play video games with children and create content showcasing the Extra Life program.
“Contributing to meaningful causes is one of the fundamental pillars of Complexity,” Cam Kelly, Complexity Gaming’s CMO, said in a statement. “Through our partnership with Extra Life, we are able to leverage our global reach and visibility to positively impact Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals across the country, including our local CMN Hospital, Children’s Health in Dallas, Texas.”
Complexity’s players and streamers will have an always-on extension integration for donations to Extra Life via Twitch channels where they live stream themselves playing video games. Extra Life will also have a custom landing page on its site for Complexity, which will highlight Complexity members’ fundraising efforts.
“More than 10 million kids enter a Children’s Miracle Network Hospital each year—funds raised through Extra Life supply critical treatments and healthcare services, pediatric medical equipment and charitable care,” John Lauck, president and CEO of Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, said in a statement. “Thank you for your support and can’t wait to tune into Complexity’s charity streams benefiting CMN Hospitals.”
Since its creation in 2008, Extra Life has raised over $10 million in 2019 alone and over $50 million overall for sick and injured children.
Complexity’s North Texas ties
Complexity Gaming calls itself one of the longest standing esports organizations. After Jerry Jones and Fort Worth-based real estate magnate John Goff acquired Complexity in 2017, the organization began working to align itself with the Dallas Cowboys, moving its headquarters from Georgia to The Star in Frisco.
A new logo, resembling the iconic Cowboys star logo, along with a new color scheme, website, and expanded company vision have helped Complexity align itself with the professional football team.
Complexity has formed local ties since moving to Dallas-Fort Worth, including partnering with Grapevine-headquartered GameStop to launch Complexity’s GameStop Performance Center headquarters at The Star in Frisco earlier this year.
