Superimposing butterfly network controls for pattern combinations
Patent No. 10140239

Inventor(s): Dheera Balasubramanian (Richardson, TX), Joseph Zbiciak (San Jose, CA), Sureshkumar Govindaraj (Irving, TX)
Assignee(s): TEXAS INSTRUMENTS INCORPORATED (Dallas, TX)
Law Firm: No Counsel
Application No., Date, Speed: 15602235 on 05/23/2017 (553 days app to issue)

Abstract: A multilayer butterfly network is shown that is operable to transform and align a plurality of fields from an input to an output data stream. Many transformations are possible with such a network which may include separate control of each multiplexer. This invention supports a limited set of multiplexer control signals, which enables a similarly limited set of data transformations. This limited capability is offset by the reduced complexity of the multiplexor control circuits. This invention used precalculated inputs and simple combinatorial logic to generate control signals for the butterfly network. Controls are independent for each layer and therefore are dependent only on the input and output patterns. Controls for the layers can be calculated in parallel.

Abstract: What is disclosed is a system and method for modelling a class posterior probability of context dependent phonemes in a speech recognition system. A representation network is trained by projecting a N-dimensional feature vector into G intermediate layers of nodes. At least some features are associated with a class label vector. A last intermediate layer Z[superscript]G [/superscript]of the representation network is discretized to obtain a discretized layer [circumflex over (Z)]. Feature vector Q is obtained by randomly selecting V features from discretized layer [circumflex over (Z)]. Q is repeatedly hashed to obtain a vector Q[subscript]f [/subscript]where Q[subscript]f [/subscript]is an output of the f[superscript]th [/superscript]hashing. An equivalent scalar representation is determined for each Q[subscript]f[/subscript]. In a manner more fully disclosed herein, a posterior probability P[subscript]f [/subscript]is determined for each (x, b) pair based on the equivalent scalar representation of each respective Q[subscript]f[/subscript]. The obtained posterior probabilities are used to improve classification accuracy in a speech recognition system.

Abstract: Techniques are presented for the prevention and detection of inter-plane disturbs in a memory circuit, where, when concurrently performing memory operations on multiple planes, a defect in one plane can feed back through a common supply node and adversely affect memory operations in another node. To isolate such defects to plane in which the occur, the memory supplies the elements, such as a word line, of different planes from a common supply node through a uni-directional circuit element, such as a diode. In this way, if the voltage on an element in an array gets pulled up to an elevated voltage though a defect, this elevated voltage is stopped from flowing back to the common supply node. Additionally, by comparing the voltage levels on either side of the uni-directional circuit element, it can be determined whether such a defect is present in an array.
