Its latest work—They Saw Tomorrow—delves into Dallas’ predictions of the future. The immersive, multidisciplinary production was based on 20 interviews with Dallas residents about their predictions for the state of the world in 20 years. The production, which is supported by the Dallas Office of Arts & Culture, includes a live performance with musicians and dancers that draws inspiration from the theater company’s online video archive.

The production will be presented at Oak Cliff’s Urban Arts Center on four dates in July (July 22-23 and July 29-30). General tickets are $15.

Work that matters

Meat Market takes a creator’s approach to art and performance. The theater company says each of its programs will try to answer the question, “What is—or can—dance performance be?”

The goal? To start conversations in the community. The mission-oriented company wants to connect with people in Dallas, and do work that matters, according to its website.

Artistic Director Fleisher’s focus is fostering a community of experimentation and collaboration—making works that are challenging but easy for a wide audience to understand.

The Dallas native, an alum of Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts, has worked in Dallas for over 20 years. The dancer, choreographer, and creator has won the Kyle Richards choreography award and worked on many short films and pieces with other artists and professors, including a full production presented in 2021 called Not to Disappoint, But.
