“The way to determine the strength of a community, and its true character, is to take a closer look at its people.”

.…on asking residents to take part in a citywide search to create DeSoto’s “So Much to Love” video campaign.
The city of DeSoto is asking its residents to take part in a citywide search for great local stories for a video project that will share real stories from local residents, business owners, and people who work in the city. The project is aimed at showing the many reasons why there is “so much to love” about DeSoto, the city said.
“By taking the time to look at our residents up close, and showing who they are and how they make a difference in the fabric of our city, everyone will be able to see the DeSoto that I see,” Mayor Proctor said in a statement. “And they’ll know exactly why there’s so much to love about DeSoto.”
The city said the video series will contribute to its strategic plan to create a new image representing what DeSoto is today.
“As mayor, I meet new DeSoto residents every week, and that gives me a pretty good look at the character of the people of DeSoto,” she added. “I get to see the warmth, talent, inner beauty, and strong individuality of our residents. I also feel their love.”
City leaders said they are excited about the video campaign and the positive exposure it will bring to DeSoto.
New city logo was unveiled in October
In October, DeSoto leaders unveiled a new city logo (above) that symbolizes the city’s “diversity, authenticity, countless opportunities, innovation, and togetherness of the community.” The city said the video series is a contribution to the strategic plan to create an updated city identity and public brand awareness.
Filming for the campaign will begin in August, the city said, and will run through September. Participants must be available for the video shoot during that time.
The city said participation is open to all DeSoto residents, business owners, and people who work in the city, regardless of how long they’ve lived, worked, or operated a business there.
Those interested in participating can visit here and complete the expression of interest questionnaire by the August 6 deadline.
