Dallas Innovates and D CEO celebrated 68 honorees and revealed the winners of our fourth-annual Innovation Awards at an event held at On the Levee in the Dallas Design District.
Here's a full list of winners and finalists.
Jack Selby was one of the original employees at PayPal. He later served as a corporate officer/SVP overseeing PayPal's international and corporate operations.
Selby says he'll work with Spacee's team to bring its computer vision tech "to more businesses who will be leveraging AI innovation to streamline efficiencies, draw more customers into stores, and ultimately improve their bottom line."
Now in its fourth year, the program from Dallas Innovates and D CEO honors 68 disruptors and trailblazers driving a new vision for innovation in North Texas.
Finalists will be recognized in the January/February issue of D CEO magazine and online at DallasInnovates.com. Winners will be revealed at an exclusive awards event in January.
Spacee's shelf-mounted "roaming robots" can now do more than just take unobtrusive inventory. A new version of the robots has live video feed capabilities, "allowing retail store managers to see shelves and get real-time inventory snapshots remotely."
Founder and CEO Skip Howard talks about the "huge gap" his robots can fill—and offers four predictions on major retail tech trends for 2023.
Bringing 36 years of experience from his Best Buy days, Brad Anderson isn't just joining Spacee's advisory board. He's also investing in the startup—which aims to transform retail businesses with its HoverTouch interactive experiences, while helping industries track inventories with its Deming shelf-mounted robots.
"I was attracted to the company’s learners and adapters," Anderson tells Dallas Innovates. "They're a team of people that when you have a problem, they are unencumbered in their ability to innovate to solve the problem."
Aaron Pierce, the co-founder and board chair of Venture Dallas, has a deep investment background and a history of supporting the local entrepreneurial community. As partner at Perot Jain, his role is "all encompassing." One item on his agenda is overseeing the firm's investments in Major League Cricket—along with managing the firm's investment portfolio of more than 60 companies.
“We have the ingredients required to be a major player in the national investment landscape," Pierce says, "especially as the family office and private investment focus grows from funds to direct investments in venture-backed companies.”
Customers walking into Audi Dallas are finding touchscreen-like experiences right on Audi car models—without a touchscreen in sight. The new "interactive experience solution" is called HoverTouch, from Addison-based tech startup Spacee. The solution gives customers information while delivering useful data back to the retailer.
"We're still early in the process, but already seeing double-digit in-store sales increases for the products we’re promoting with HoverTouch," says Audi Dallas' auto group CEO.
In this week's roundup of hires, promotions, and accolades in North Texas, you'll also find news from Firehouse, Enseo, Cambium Learning, D Magazine, Lear Investment Management, Spacee, Envy Gaming, 5Q, Stream Realty Partners, Nanoscope, Crossplane Capital, Improving, TimelyMD and more.
The 34-day event is an experience. One that is connecting startups and investors through a new curated networking platform.
