The grant—part of more than $121 million given by the U.S. Department of Labor to help strengthen and modernize Registered Apprenticeship programs—was the only one awarded in North Texas. The college was also the only higher education institute in Texas to get one of the grants.
The grants are intended to help workers find a “reliable path to the middle class," the Labor Department says.

Dallas College Job Training Cuts Turnover, Boosts Engagement

Dallas College, which received a $10 million U.S. Department of Labor grant to train workers in information technology, advanced manufacturing, and transportation-related skills, is on the verge of expanding its job training efforts to the national level.
Closer to home, five Southern Dallas County companies are taking part in the college's Skills Development Fund program.

Amazon's "Career Choice" partnerships with 140 universities and colleges across the country will provide fully funded college tuition opportunities to its 750,000 hourly U.S. employees.
Today's announcement is part of Amazon's Upskilling 2025 pledge—a $1.2 billion commitment to upskill more than 300,000 Amazon employees by 2025.

Two Tuition-Free Montessori-Inspired Bezos Academy Preschools Coming to Dallas College

Created by Amazon Founder Jeff Bezos, the Bezos Academy has built a network of eight tuition-free preschools in underserved communities in Washington state. Now the first two Bezos Academies outside Washington are coming to Dallas College campuses in Oak Cliff and Lancaster.
Admissions will be open to families earning up to 400% of the federal poverty level with children ages 3 or 4.

The American Rescue Act initiative aims to reduce barriers that underrepresented and underserved entrepreneurs often face in accessing the programs they need to recover, grow, or start their businesses. The Dallas Entrepreneur Center will use the grant to engage efforts with six Dallas-area organizations: Veteran Women’s Enterprise Center; LiftFund; TruFund; Dallas College; BCL of Texas; and WiNGS.
