Based in Dallas and Fort Worth, the four local entrepreneurs pursue missions ranging from making healthy hair care accessible to all to turning locations into landmarks to blazing new trails in influencer marketing.
Dallas-based LTK helped create the creator economy when it launched in 2011, launching a new category that monetized Instagram and allowed lifestyle creators to become entrepreneurs. It was valued at $2 billion just 10 years later. But when Venz Box first started the company, she had only $236 in her bank account, according to Fortune Magazine.
Today Bloomberg reported that LTK is now allowing users to buy from influencer-curated virtual storefronts on LTK's app. Box's company has added in-app checkout to leverage the fact that influencers use the platform to make their videos and photos "shoppable."
The investment values LTK, formerly rewardStyle, at $2 billion. The fashion-forward tech innovator plans to use the capital to rapidly grow its team and accelerate its multifaceted, influencer-driven marketplace for creators, brands, and shoppers.
Five fellows from United Way of Metropolitan Dallas' Social Innovation Accelerator will present their ideas in health, income, or education for the chance at $235,000 in funding. Tickets are on sale now for the all-virtual event on Oct. 28.
Catherine “Kit” Ulrich, the former CPO of WeightWatchers and Shutterstock and the youngest-ever CPO of a publicly traded company, is the new general manager of rewardStyle's fast-growing influencer-driven consumer shopping app.
The influencer-driven LIKEtoKNOW.it app is rewardStyle's fastest-growing product. 5,000 retailers—from Chanel to Walmart and Adidas to Ulta—were integrated in the new LTK Shopping Video feature at launch.
The leadership appointments follow rewardStyle's milestone last month of hitting $4 billion in lifetime retail sales. Now, the fashion-focused technology platform says it's primed for a move into scaled hypergrowth.
