First Look: Coworking With Stadium Views at Spark Arlington

Entrepreneurs who park their laptops in Spark Arlington this winter will get more than the usual coworking amenities. They'll also get two-level views of Choctaw Stadium's playing field, as well as views of the Texas Rangers' new home right next door.

The 30,000-square-foot coworking facility is part of nearly $1 billion in new development in the Arlington Entertainment District.

At some offices, you’re lucky if you have a break room with a foosball table. But a new coworking space in Arlington will kick things up a notch—with skybox atrium views of the stadium where “Pudge” Rodriguez and Josh Hamilton once bombed home runs.

Baltimore-based Spark Coworking will anchor the southeast corner of the Rangers’ former home, now called Choctaw Stadium, in the heart of the Arlington Entertainment District. The announcement was made yesterday by the Texas Rangers and The Cordish Companies, Spark’s Baltimore-based corporate parent.

The two-level, 30,000-square-foot Spark Arlington workspace is the latest in nearly $1 billion of new development in the district. Other things to come include the Loews Arlington Hotel & Convention Center, the National Medal of Honor Museum, and the recently announced One Rangers Way luxury residential building, slated to break ground this fall.

“Spark Arlington will add another important component to the development of the Arlington Entertainment District—collaborative business enterprise,” Texas Rangers Managing Partner and Majority Owner Ray Davis said in a statement. “The addition of Spark Arlington also continues our pledge to make Choctaw Stadium a vital and fully productive facility in the district.”

The Spark Arlington facility will be located in Choctaw Stadium, which used to be known as Globe Life Park. The Rangers left it after the 2019 season for Globe Life Field, their new retractable-roof ballpark right next door.

In 2020, the Rangers’ former home was retrofitted to be a football and soccer venue. It was renamed Choctaw Stadium in 2021 after Choctaw Casinos & Resorts bought the naming rights.

The XFL’s Dallas Renegades played at Choctaw Stadium, and FC Dallas’ reserve soccer team, North Texas SC, plays there now. The Dallas Jackals, a Major League Rugby team, call Choctaw Stadium home too, and are playing the Utah Warriors there this Saturday night. The stadium has also hosted over 75 college and Texas high school football games and numerous entertainment events.

The stadium’s existing tenants include the Arlington Convention & Visitors Bureau and the world headquarters of Six Flags Entertainment.

‘Maximizing new and existing amenities’

Zed Smith, COO of The Cordish Companies, said his company is proud to continue its partnership with the Rangers and the city of Arlington by giving coworking customers something truly new.

“We’re constantly seeking innovative ways to utilize and maximize new and existing amenities in our development projects in the Entertainment District, and the addition of Spark to Choctaw Stadium is the latest example of these efforts,” Smith said in the statement.

Amenities will include workspaces and balconies with “incredible views” of both Globe Life Field and Choctaw Stadium’s new infield; furnished private workspaces and suites; on-site meeting rooms; a community kitchen, member cafe and lounge spaces; an onsite podcast studio; a dedicated mother’s room and wellness space; branded office signage and on-site digital signage; garage parking; and other features from high-speed internet to concierge mail services.

“Our vision for Spark Coworking is to provide the local business and entrepreneurial community with an affordable, appealing and flexible way to locate and grow and manage their businesses,” said Shervonne Cherry, the company’s director of community & partnerships.

Spark’s fourth coworking facility in the U.S.

Spark Arlington will be the fourth collaborative workspace from Spark Coworking. Its first opened in 2016 in Baltimore, followed by outposts in St. Louis and Kansas City, Missouri.

Arlington’s mayor says he’s glad that his city is No. 4 on the list.

“We’re excited to work with The Texas Rangers and The Cordish Companies to continue to transform Arlington into a premier entertainment and business district and a true competitor for business in the region,” Mayor Jim Ross said in a statement.
