Six Flags, Cedar Fair Agree to $8B Merger of Theme Park Industry Giants

The combined company will be headquartered in Charlotte, North Carolina, and operate under the Six Flags name. Six Flags Entertainment is the operator of Six Flags Over Texas in Arlington, where the company's current HQ is located. The combined company will boast 27 amusement parks, 15 water parks, and 9 resorts, plus pop-culture IP, safari parks, and more.

Arlington-based Six Flags Entertainment wants to make it easier for its guests to buy food and drinks in a frictionless way. So it's partnering with Amazon and Coca-Cola on a joint venture to pilot Amazon's Just Walk Out technology at a New Jersey Six Flags theme park beginning June 1.

Entrepreneurs who park their laptops in Spark Arlington this winter will get more than the usual coworking amenities. They'll also get two-level views of Choctaw Stadium's playing field, as well as views of the Texas Rangers' new home right next door.
