Dallas’ Top 10 Angel Investors

Mark Cuban, owner of the Dallas Mavericks, and one of the entrepreneurs on ABC’s Shark Tank, topped Common Desk’s top 10 list of Angel Investors in Dallas.

Angel Investors are usually successful business professionals who invest using their own funds, rather than a professionally managed fund. They may also be willing to take a higher risk on investment than a VC firm, but are still expecting an extremely high rate of return.

Early-stage businesses often seek Angel Investors to fill the funding gap after capital from family and friends have been exhausted. Funding is used to continue researching, developing, and marketing their products.

Dallas has a strong Angel Investors community.

The Dallas Angels Network is a group of investors in Dallas that meets quarterly, usually after the group finds three to five “interesting entrepreneurs,” the group said on its website. The network is free for investors to join and entrepreneurs don’t pay a fee to participate or make a pitch.

Besides Dallas, the group also includes investors from Houston and Austin.
