Dallas’ Tenet Healthcare Appoints Industry Leader to Board of Directors

Dallas-based healthcare company Tenet Healthcare Corp. has appointed industry leader Vineeta Agarwala, M.D., Ph.D., to its board of directors, effective immediately.

“We are pleased to welcome Dr. Vineeta Agarwala to the Tenet board,” Saum Sutaria, M.D., Tenet chairman and CEO, said in a statement. “Vineeta is a leader in healthcare in her own right. Her expertise in innovative technologies, including applications of artificial intelligence, will enhance our governance in a rapidly evolving healthcare marketplace.”

Agarwala will serve as a member of the Quality, Compliance, and Ethics Committee, as well as the Human Resources Committee, increasing the size of the board to 13 directors, Tenet said.

She is a general partner at Andreessen Horowitz (a16z), where she leads investments for the firm’s Bio + Health fund across biotech and digital health, Tenet said. Agarwala focuses on partnering with companies leveraging unique technologies and datasets to advance drug development, personalized medicine, and novel approaches to patient care delivery.

Agarwala’s experience includes research at the prestigious Broad Institute in computational biology and human genetics. She completed her clinical residency at Stanford and is board certified in internal medicine.

Tenet is a diversified healthcare services company whose care delivery network includes United Surgical Partners International, the largest ambulatory platform in the country, which operates or has ownership interests in more than 480 ambulatory surgery centers and surgical hospitals.

The company operates 61 acute care and specialty hospitals, approximately 110 other outpatient facilities, a network of leading employed physicians and a global business center in Manila, Philippines.

Tenet’s Conifer Health Solutions subsidiary provides revenue cycle management and value-based care services to hospitals, health systems, physician practices, employers, and other clients.
