Diaphragm pump
Patent No. 9970429

Inventor(s): Sidney Lowe (Moyock, NC), Yang Han (Bethlehem, PA)
Assignee(s): Flowserve Management Company (Irving, TX)
Law Firm: Maine Cernota Rardin (1 non-local offices)
Application No., Date, Speed: 14332627 on 07/16/2014 (1399 days app to issue)

Abstract: A diaphragm pump includes a bypass valve and spring that are easy to install and do not require support by a special plug or mounting bracket. The pump outlet is perpendicular to the input, causing the bypass valve and spring to operate laterally as seen from the pump base. When installed, the bypass spring is suspended between the bypass valve and a simple ”T” insert that is held in place within the pump by interior elements of the pump, without need for a special plug or bracket. The longitudinal strength of the housing is increased by providing a cone-shaped outer wall having a scalloped inner surface. The conical shape enhances the housing”s resistance to longitudinal forces applied to the diaphragm. The cusps of the scalloped shape provide wall support ribs and locations for assembly screws, while increasing the interior volume and reducing the pump weight.

Inventor(s): Carroll R. Mayhew (Carrollton, TX)
Assignee(s): Foy Inventerprises, Inc. (Las Vegas, NV)
Law Firm: Weide Miller, Ltd. (1 non-local offices)
Application No., Date, Speed: 14679637 on 04/06/2015 (1135 days app to issue)

Abstract: A flying effects choreography system provides visualizations of flying effects within a virtual environment. The system allows choreographers to define a sequence of waypoints that identify a path of motion. A physics engine of the system may then calculate position data for a performer or other element attached to a free-swinging pendulum cable, as the performer and pendulum cable move along the path of motion. In this manner, the position data describes the motion of the performer, including the pendulum effect or swing of the performer on the pendulum cable. The position data may be used to generate one or more visualizations that show the performer”s motion, including the pendulum effect. The choreographer may review the visualizations and make modifications any number of times, until a desired flying effect is produced, without having to physically implement the flying effect in the real world.

Paired communication between an implanted medical device and an external control device
Patent No. 9974108

Inventor(s): Richard J. Polefko (Parma, OH)
Assignee(s): Nuvectra Corporation (Plano, TX)
Law Firm: Haynes and Boone, LLP (Local + 13 other metros)
Application No., Date, Speed: 13366705 on 02/06/2012 (2290 days app to issue)

Abstract: A method of identifying an external device that sent a message and then determining whether to process the message based in part on the identity of the external device that sent the message. The implanted device receives a message from the external device and identifies an external device ID in the received message. The external device ID identifies the external device that sent the message. The implanted device then compares the external device ID from the message to a stored list of approved external device IDs. The implanted device processes the message when the external device ID matches one or the approved external device IDs in the stored list of approved external device IDs. However, the message is disregarded when the external device ID does not match any of the approved external device IDs in the stored list of approved external device IDs.

Abstract: A transmit power control rule for device-to-device (D2D) transmissions may not be necessary during periods in which no uplink transmissions are scheduled to be received by an enhanced Node B base station (eNB). When uplink transmissions are not scheduled to be received by the eNB, the eNB may send a transmit power control (TPC) command to a D2D capable user equipment (D2D UE) that instructs the D2D UE to perform a D2D transmission at a pre-defined transmit power level (e.g., maximum transmit power level). When uplink transmissions are scheduled to be received the eNB, the eNB may send a TPC command to the D2D UE that instructs the D2D UE to perform a D2D transmission at a transmit power level defined by a power control rule.

System and method for communicating resource allocation for D2D
Patent No. 9974077

Inventor(s): Brian Classon (Palatine, IL), Philippe Sartori (Plainfield, IL), Vipul Desai (Palatine, IL)
Assignee(s): FUTUREWEI TECHNOLOGIES, INC. (Plano, TX)
Law Firm: Futurewei Technologies, Inc. (2 non-local offices)
Application No., Date, Speed: 14843539 on 09/02/2015 (986 days app to issue)

Abstract: When the frequency resource allocation is conveyed on a bandwidth that is different from a bandwidth on which the frequency resource allocation is sent, a receiving D2D UE needs to understand the resource allocations. A resource allocation method for device-to-device resource allocation is provided according to an example. The resource allocation method includes a first D2D user equipment (UE) receiving a downlink control information (DCI) from an access point, wherein the DCI comprises a first D2D frequency allocation and the first D2D frequency allocation comprises a first resource allocation field for transmission of data; setting a second resource allocation field of a second D2D frequency allocation of a sidelink control information (SCI) format according to the first resource allocation field; transmitting the SCI format to one or more additional D2D UEs; and transmitting the data on the resource according to the second D2D resource allocation.
