Constraining pyrite activity in shale
Patent No. 9944844

Inventor(s): Jeffrey Snider (Dallas, TX)
Assignee(s): Smart Chemical Services, LP (Amarillo, TX)
Law Firm: Beck Thomas, P.C. (2 non-local offices)
Application No., Date, Speed: 15058935 on 03/02/2016 (776 days app to issue)

Abstract: Degeneration of shale caused by oxygen in aqueous drilling, fracturing and completion fluids is minimized by introducing imidazolines modified so that they will be attracted efficiently to pyrites in the shale, thereby forming a protective coating on the pyrites. Inhibiting oxidation of the pyrites sharply reduces physical degradation of the shale, and the generation of undesirable oxides, in the presence of drilling, fracturing and completion fluids carrying oxygen. The imidazoline is an ionic salt of a monocarboxylic acid.

The microprocessor is configured to transmit a first electrical signal to operate an air circulation fan at a first speed and a heating unit in a first configuration to achieve a first temperature rise where less than all of the burners are active. The microprocessor is further configured to obtain a return air temperature, obtain a room air temperature, and determine a temperature difference between the return air temperature and the room air temperature. The microprocessor is further configured to compare the temperature difference to a temperature rise threshold and transmit a second electrical signal to transition the air circulation fan from the first speed to a second speed to achieve a second temperature rise that is less than the first temperature rise when the temperature difference is greater than the temperature rise threshold.

Abstract: Technology is described for keeping current (e.g., peak power supply current or ICC) in a non-volatile memory system within a target while maintaining high throughput. Programming conditions are adaptively changed at the sub-codeword level in order to keep power supply current of the memory system within a target. In one embodiment, a chunk of data that corresponds to a sub-codeword is written while consuming lower than normal programming current in order to keep power supply current within a target. The relatively low programming current may increase the expected raw BER. However, other portions of the codeword can be written with a higher than normal programming current, which results in a lower expected bit raw error rate for the memory cells that store that portion.

SOI FinFET transistor with strained channel
Patent No. 9947772

Inventor(s): John H. Zhang (Altamont, NY)
Assignee(s): STMICROELECTRONICS, INC. (Coppell, TX)
Law Firm: Seed IP Law Group LLP (1 non-local offices)
Application No., Date, Speed: 14231466 on 03/31/2014 (1478 days app to issue)

Abstract: Stress is introduced into the channel of an SOI FinFET device by transfer directly from a metal gate. In SOI devices in particular, stress transfer efficiency from the metal gate to the channel is nearly 100%. Either tensile or compressive stress can be applied to the fin channel by choosing different materials to be used in the gate stack as the bulk gate material, a gate liner, or a work function material, or by varying processing parameters during deposition of the gate or work function materials. P-gates and N-gates are therefore formed separately. Gate materials suitable for use as stressors include tungsten (W) for NFETs and titanium nitride (TiN) for PFETs. An optical planarization material assists in patterning the stress-inducing metal gates. A simplified process flow is disclosed in which isolation regions are formed without need for a separate mask layer, and gate sidewall spacers are not used.

Avoiding formation of a call loop resulting from handling of a mobile terminated call in parallel with a location update in a wireless communication network
Patent No. 9949110

Inventor(s): Lu Tian (Plano, TX)
Assignee(s): Alcatel Lucent (Boulogne-Billancourt, , FR)
Law Firm: Tong, Rea, Bentley Kim, LLC (1 non-local offices)
Application No., Date, Speed: 15267641 on 09/16/2016 (578 days app to issue)

Abstract: A call loop avoidance capability is provided for preventing formation of a call loop resulting from handling of a mobile terminated (MT) call in parallel with a location update for a mobile device (MD) in a wireless communication network. The call loop avoidance capability prevents formation of a call loop between an old mobility and call management entity (MCME) and a new MCME when delivery of an MT call to an MD is performed while the MD is in the process of moving from the old MCME to the new MCME using a location update procedure. An enhanced call routing procedure supports direct delivery of the MT call from the new MCME to the MD (rather than delivery of the MT call by the new MCME to the MD via the old MCME) in order to prevent formation of a call loop between the old MCME and the new MCME.
