System and method for treating water systems with high voltage discharge and ozone
Patent No. 9932252

Inventor(s): Adrian J. Denvir (Richardson, TX), David F. Vela (Irving, TX), Jose E. Evaro (Mansfield, TX), Matthew C. Holloway (Fort Worth, TX), William P. Boesch (Dallas, TX)
Assignee(s): NCH Corporation (Irving, TX)
Law Firm: Ross Barnes LLP (1 non-local offices)
Application No., Date, Speed: 14695519 on 04/24/2015 (1075 days app to issue)

Abstract: A system and method for treating flowing water systems with a plasma discharge to remove or control growth of microbiological species. Components of the water system are protected from being damaged by excess energy from the electrohydraulic treatment. Ozone gas generated by a high voltage generator that powers the plasma discharge is recycled to further treat the water. A gas infusion system may be used to create fine bubbles of ozone, air, or other gases in the water being treated to aid in plasma generation, particularly when the conductivity of the water is high. An electrode mounting assembly maintains a high voltage electrode and ground electrode at a fixed distance from each other to optimize plasma generation. An open support structure for the high voltage generator circuit physically separates spark gap electrodes and resists metal deposits that may disrupt discharge of a high voltage pulse to create the plasma.

Abstract: In an example, there is provided a system and method for execution profiling detection of malicious software objects. An execution profiling (EXP) engine may be provided in conjunction with a binary translation engine (BTE). Both may operate within a trusted execution environment (TEE). Because many malware objects make assumptions about memory usage of host applications, they may cause exceptions when those assumptions prove untrue. The EXP engine may proactively detect such exceptions via the BTE when the BTE performs its translation function. Thus, malicious behavior may be detected before a binary runs on a system, and remedial measures may be provided.

Application No., Date, Speed: 14987966 on 01/05/2016 (819 days app to issue)

Abstract: A system and method are disclosed for using magnetic signatures at predetermined positions along a roadway to monitor traffic travelling along the roadway by comparing the predetermined magnetic signatures with magnetic signatures being dynamically and continuously measured by each vehicle as they travel along the roadway. Magnetometers incorporated into mobile devices or otherwise incorporated within the vehicle measure magnetic signatures for comparison to the predetermined magnetic signatures that form a connection graph or database of points that correspond to possible paths along a roadway. When a magnetic signature match is made, the system recognizes that the vehicle has passed a particular point on a roadway and forwards that information to the appropriate entity for further processing, analysis, or toll assessment.

Assignee(s): SANDISK TECHNOLOGIES LLC (Plano, TX)
Law Firm: Foley Lardner LLP (13 non-local offices)
Application No., Date, Speed: 14700500 on 04/30/2015 (1069 days app to issue)

Abstract: In a non-volatile memories formed according to a NAND type of architecture, one or more of the end word lines on the source end, drain end, or both are set aside as dummy word lines that are not used to store user data. In addition to the host data, a memory system typically also stores metadata, or information about the user data, how it is stored and the memory system itself. Techniques are presented for using the dummy word lines of the memory blocks to hold this metadata. This arrangement allows for the metadata of a memory block to be known in real time, without reducing the storage capacity of the memory system.

Abstract: Techniques are presented for using erase stress and variations in the loop count (number of cycles) for various fail modes in non-volatile memories, including erase disturb and shallow erase. For detection of shallow erase, cells are programmed and then erased, where the variation (delta) in the number of erase loop counts can be used to determine defective blocks. To determine blocks prone to erase disturb, an erase stress is applied to unselected blocks, after which they are programmed: after then erasing one block, the next block can then be read to determine whether it has suffered erase disturb.

Patent No. 9935123

Inventor(s): James Kai (Santa Clara, CA), Masafumi Miyamoto (Yokkaichi, , JP), Masatoshi Nishikawa (Yokkaichi, , JP)
Assignee(s): SANDISK TECHNOLOGIES LLC (Plano, TX)
Law Firm: The Marbury Law Group PLLC (3 non-local offices)
Application No., Date, Speed: 15219652 on 07/26/2016 (616 days app to issue)

Abstract: An alternating stack of sacrificial material layers and insulating layers is formed over a substrate. Replacement of sacrificial material layers with electrically conductive layers can be performed employing a subset of openings. A predominant subset of the openings is employed to form memory stack structures therein. A minor subset of the openings is employed as access openings for introducing an etchant to remove the sacrificial material layers to form lateral recesses and to provide a reactant for depositing electrically conductive layers in the lateral recesses. By distributing the access openings across the entirety of the openings and eliminating the need to employ backside trenches for replacement of the sacrificial material layers, the size and lateral extent of backside trenches can be reduced to a level sufficient to accommodate only backside contact via structures.
