Law Firm: Vierra Magen Marcus LLP (2 non-local offices)
Application No., Date, Speed: 15683756 on 08/22/2017 (609 days app to issue)

Abstract: Storage divisions of a non-volatile storage medium may have a writable state and an unwritable state. Storage divisions may be reclaimed by, inter alia, resetting the storage division from an unwritable state to a writable state. Writable storage divisions may be used to service incoming storage requests. If no writable storage divisions are available, requests may stall. One or more storage divisions may be held in a writable state to avoid stall conditions. This, however, may increase the erase dwell time of the storage divisions, which can result in increased wear and reduce the usable life of the storage device. Storage divisions may be prepared for use such that the storage divisions are transitioned to a writable state such that erase dwell time of the storage divisions is reduced, and the storage divisions are available as needed to service incoming requests.

Abstract: To enable continuous execution of an application, a system and method for transferring an application state is provided. A gesture corresponding to a transfer act is detected by a gesture detection module in a first device executing the application. The first device communicates with a registration and relay server to determine eligible transfer recipients based on criteria such as location and/or devices that are currently executing the application. A transfer recipient is selected and platform independent application state Data Transfer Objects are generated that describe the state of execution on the first device. The application state DTOs are transferred via the server to the recipient device which enacts the application state DTOs to continue the execution of the application on the recipient device. Because the application state DTOs are platform independent, the application state can be transferred to almost any device that is able to execute the application.

Abstract: Some embodiments of the invention provide novel methods for storing data in a hash-addressed memory and retrieving stored data from the hash-addressed memory. In some embodiments, the method receives a search key and a data tuple. The method then uses a first hash function to generate a first hash value from the search key, and then uses this first hash value to identify an address in the hash-addressed memory. The method also uses a second hash function to generate a second hash value, and then stores this second hash value along with the data tuple in the memory at the address specified by the first hash value. To retrieve data from the hash-addressed memory, the method of some embodiments receives a search key. The method then uses the first hash function to generate a first hash value from the search key, and then uses this first hash value to identify an address in the hash-addressed memory. At the identified address, the hash-addressed memory stores a second hash value and a data tuple. The method retrieves a second hash value from the memory at the identified address, and compares this second hash value with a third hash value that the method generates from the search key by using the second hash function. When the second and third hash values match, the method retrieves the data tuple that the memory stores at the identified address.

When writing data at the request of a host, it is possible for there to be some residual data that cannot be programmed at two (or more) bits per memory cell into a page of memory cells, given the programming scheme being used. This residual data may be cached in latches. The residual data from the latches may be combined with other data from the host to increase programming speed when programming, for example, sequential data using a full sequence programming scheme. Also, caching the residual data in latches keeps write amplification low.

Abstract: A memory device and associated techniques for reducing program disturb of memory cells which are formed in a two-tier stack with an increased distance between memory cells at an interface between the tiers. After a verify test in a program loop, a different timing is used for decreasing the word line voltages of the interface memory cells compared to the remaining memory cells. In one aspect, the start of the decrease of the word line voltages of the interface memory cells is delayed. In another aspect, the word line voltages of the interface memory cells is decreased to an intermediate level and held for a time period before being decreased further. In another aspect, the word line voltages of the interface memory cells are decreased at a lower rate.

Abstract: Complementary high-voltage bipolar transistors formed in standard bulk silicon integrated circuits are disclosed. In one disclosed embodiment, collector regions are formed in an epitaxial silicon layer. Base regions and emitters are disposed over the collector region. An n-type region is formed under collector region by implanting donor impurities into a p-substrate for the PNP transistor and implanting acceptor impurities into the p-substrate for the NPN transistor prior to depositing the collector epitaxial regions. Later in the process flow these n-type and p-type regions are connected to the top of the die by a deep n+ and p+ wells respectively. The n-type well is then coupled to VCC while the p-type well is coupled to GND, providing laterally depleted portions of the PNP and NPN collector regions and hence, increasing their BVs.
