Abstract: In a non-volatile memory system, such as flash memory, when selecting a block for write operation, the system selects blocks from a free block list (FBL). The memory circuits of non-volatile systems often experience cluster failures, where multiple blocks of a physical region are bad. If the free block list is loaded with blocks from a region having a cluster failure, this can result in multiple back to back write errors. To help avoid this situation, the blocks of a memory array are divided into physical zones and, when selecting blocks to replenish the free block list, blocks are chosen cyclically from the zones.

Non-volatile memory having individually optimized silicide contacts and process therefor
Patent No. 10056262

Inventor(s): Keisuke Tsukamoto (Nagoya, , JP)
Assignee(s): SANDISK TECHNOLOGIES LLC (Addison, TX)
Law Firm: Vierra Magen Marcus LLP (2 non-local offices)
Application No., Date, Speed: 15479508 on 04/05/2017 (503 days app to issue)

Abstract: In an integrated-circuit memory, performance is increased by reducing an electrical contact resistance between a metal layer and an upper poly layer (a control gate poly). The electrical contact resistance is reduced by increasing the thickness of a silicide layer between the metal layer and the upper poly layer. The memory has a memory cell region and a non-memory cell region. The thickness of the silicide layer is typically restricted by consideration of integrated-circuit fabrication geometry for each memory cell not to exceed a predetermined aspect ratio. The present implementation allows independent optimization of the thickness of silicide layer in the memory cells region and the non-memory cell region. In particular, in the non-memory cell region, a thicker silicide layer significantly improves the contact resistance of a slit contact for components having the upper poly layer in contact with a lower poly layer (a floating gate poly).

Application No., Date, Speed: 14327898 on 07/10/2014 (1503 days app to issue)

Abstract: A reservation request is received for a data transport session. The reservation request contains a requested class of communication service through the asynchronous network. The state of the network along the route is then preferably determined and at least one end-to-end route through the network is obtained. The route is based on the requested class of communication service and the state of the network. The data transport session is then controlled, such that data is forced to travel along at least one route through the asynchronous network. This is preferably done by controlling multiple data controllers dispersed along the at least one route by mapping specific data protocols to specific routes, or mapping specific data protocols to specific ports in each data controller. If a state of the asynchronous network indicates that the route cannot transport data in conformity to the class of communication service, then the route is changed to a backup route through the network.
