The medal is awarded to individuals, teams, and companies for outstanding contributions to the nation’s economic, environmental, and social well-being—through tech products, tech innovation, and strengthening America's tech workforce.

Kainos Capital Closes its Partners III Fund with $1B in Commitments

First Look: Rosewood Plans New 17-Story Turtle Creek Luxury Tower in Dallas
Hong Kong-based Rosewood Hotels & Resorts—former owner of the iconic Rosewood Mansion on Turtle Creek—plans to build a 17-story standalone residential development as a nearby neighbor: Rosewood Residences Turtle Creek.  The new 17-story tower, which Rosewood says "combines Beaux-arts inspired elegance with a wealth of outstanding amenities," will feature around 46 residences. It's being developed by One Turtle Creek, a partnership of USA Infrastructure Investments and SVAG, and is scheduled for completion in early 2025.

Now TCU has helped celebrate it with a huge mural in Los Angeles—one of a series of murals nationwide highlight alumni who are "leading on" in extraordinary ways. Beattie has spastic quadriplegia cerebral palsy, a condition that makes walking extremely difficult and led to her need for a wheelchair. But that hasn't slowed down her career as co-executive producer of CBS' "NCIS" and her achievement of being the first woman on earth to land a backflip in a wheelchair.

Portrait of Civil Rights Icon Opal Lee, the ‘Grandmother of Juneteenth,’ Unveiled in Texas Senate

A portrait of Fort Worth's Opal Lee—known as the "Grandmother of Juneteenth" for her advocacy of the federal Juneteenth holiday—was unveiled Wednesday in the Texas Senate Chamber in Austin, where it will be permanently displayed. “Change somebody’s mind because minds can be changed,” 95-year-old Lee told reporters after the ceremony, according to NBC DFW. “If people have been taught to hate they can be taught to love, and it is up to you to do it.”

Southern Gateway Park Is ‘On Track’ to Break Ground on Amenities This Spring for Phase One Opening Next Year

Dallas Mayor Eric Johnson called it a "game-changing investment in the people and families of southern Dallas.” And there’s little doubt the Southern Gateway Park will be transformative once it opens as planned next year. “We are on track to break ground on the park’s amenities later this spring and open as scheduled in 2024,” a spokesperson for the Southern Gateway Public Green Foundation told WFAA this week, adding that $3 million in new funding has been secured since January 1 for the $172 million project.

Report: ‘Rich Renter’ Households in DFW Up as Much as 198% in Five Years

RentCafe said that while the number of high-income renters in Dallas rose by 74% and sits at 6% of the city's total renters between 2015 and 2020—peaking at 17,257— he number of high-income renters rose even more dramatically in other North Texas cities. Garland saw a rise of 198%, McKinney 186%, Plano 103%, and Frisco 93%. High-income renters in Frisco may look into places like the luxury Remy apartments (above), coming to Frisco Square in 2024.

Dallas’ LERMA/ Agency Produced 3 Commercials for This Year’s Super Bowl
It's a big deal for an ad agency to get one commercial into the Super Bowl, where 30-second spots this year are running for $7 million a pop. But during this year's big game, Dallas-based LERMA/ Agency will be cheering on three different spots it produced. According to the Dallas Business Journal, LERMA/ produced a :30 spot for Irving-based Avocados from Mexico, and also said "Action!" for a 30-second and a 60-second spot for "He Gets Us" a Christian ad campaign funded by what Christianity Today calls "a small group of wealthy anonymous families."
