THE ACCELERATOR IS A SUITE OF SOFTWARE AND SERVICES

Swedish tech giant Ericsson announced this week an IoT Accelerator program, and North Texas reportedly will be one of three locations around the globe to house the operation.

The Dallas Business Journal reported that a site in North Texas will house one of the sites to host the new platform, but that Ericsson would not confirm if it will be at the company’s North American headquarters in Plano. The North Texas site would serve the Americas, Ericsson said.

The other two locations will be in Melbourne, Australia, and Athlone, Ireland.

According to Ericsson, the accelerator is a suite of software and services that will offer support to businesses seeking to enter the Internet of Things area, including integration of devices, sensors and data set that have been tests for malware and other bugs.

At first, the accelerator will target utilities, public safety, transportation and smart sustainable cities, Ericsson said on its website.
