THE SOCIAL IMPACT OF INNOVATION

Hear from Ophir Marko about the social impacts of innovation. He’ll discuss “Israel’s transformation from an agro-based economy to the startup nation it is today,” according to the event website.

SOLAR ECLIPSE WATCH PARTIES

12:30 – 2:30 p.m.

Track the sun as it nearly vanishes over the city at Tech EdVentures’ solar eclipse watching party. The peak of the eclipse is at 1:10 p.m. in Dallas — don’t miss this event that only occurs every 100 years.

Fort Worth Museum of Science and History, 1600 Gendy St., in Fort Worth
11 a.m.- 1:30 p.m.

The museum will have hands-on eclipse themed activities in its Innovation Studios and an opportunity to talk about the Great American Eclipse with expert Dr. Morgan Rehnberg. Attendees can grab special viewing glasses to experience the event outside or head into the Omni for a live stream of totality.

Perot Museum of Nature and Science, 2201 N. Field St., in Dallas
noon – 2 p.m.

The museum will have hands-on activities, Moon Pies and Eclipse Burgers for purchase, and a DJ playing “out-of-this-world beats.” Attendees can grab special viewing glasses to experience the event outside or opt to watch NASA’s live stream of totality. Space-related attire is encouraged.

WEDALLAS: TECHIES & MAKERS

Capital One will host Alex el-Effendi, head of brand at Bumble at its makersspace, The Garage. Organized by The Dallas Entrepreneur Center, this event is designed to educate and engage women in tech.

From driverless cars to artificial intelligence, 10 sharp Dallas leaders will go head-to-head in five rounds of fights in Digital Dallas’ second Digital Fight Club. Refs and audience will be the judges. Here’s a sneak peak of the pairings.

TECH TRENDS IN GROCERY 2017

Join REVTECH in this day-long, grocery-themed technology trends conference. As the hot topic in retail following Amazon’s multibillion dollar acquisition of Whole Foods, this event will showcase innovation in the grocery industry, according to the event page.

The University of Texas at Dallas’s campus-based global entrepreneurship program, Blackstone LaunchPad, is teaming with the Venture Development Center to host a series of formal trainings for local startup companies, according to the event website. Investing in Change: Power, Purpose, & Profit 

bigBANG! is Dallas’ longest-running event for social innovation, focused on driving deeper conversations and innovative solutions for positive change in our city, according to the event website. This year’s event will focus on how Dallas benefit from impact investing — using for-profit investments to create change. The event begins with a VIP reception Oct. 25 at Polsinelli, 2950 N. Harwood St., Suite 2100 in Dallas. The main conference will be Oct. 26 at Paul Quinn College, 3837 Simpson Stuart Road, in Dallas. The Oct. 27 deep dive session will be held at Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas, 2200 N. Pearl St. in Dallas.
