RJW Logistics Group, an Illinois-based logistics solutions provider for CPG companies, has opened a 649,398-square-foot warehouse in Mesquite—its second to open in the Dallas suburb.
The company said the facility at 2200 Barry Road reflects its focus on expanding its consolidation warehouses in strategically located regions, including transportation hubs in the Dallas and Chicago regions. RJW added that it has “tripled” its warehouse footprint over the last five years.
“With the opening of the second warehouse, we’re extending our proven campus model in this region, growing our Texas presence,” CEO Kevin Williamson told Dallas Innovates.
With 200 jobs being added at RJW’s second Mesquite warehouse, the CEO said his DFW team will grow to around 400 associates.
“Each warehouse operates the same, focusing on our core customer offering of retail consolidation and other retail logistics solutions,” Williamson added. “Our campus model allows both warehouses to benefit from labor sharing, ensuring optimal staffing levels at each facility. This helps handle fluctuations in order volume or unforeseen events.”
Last year, we reported on RJW taking nearly 600,000 square feet of space to become the first big business to lease at Mesquite’s new Alcott Logistics Station, bringing more than 200 jobs to North Texas.
Currently operating from 12 state-of-the-art consolidation warehouses, RJW said its proven flexible, single-node model advances suppliers’ ability to move goods more efficiently, ultimately increasing in-stocks and sales. With the addition of the Mesquite facility, RJW said its total retail logistics footprint exceeds 7 million square feet spanning 13 warehouses including 11 in Chicago and two in the Dallas region.
A strategic position in the southern corridor
RJW’s new Mesquite warehouse is expected to ship more than 44 million cases annually nationwide and will service 225 CPG customers and employ approximately 200 warehouse personnel. RJW said this opening marks the inception of its proven campus model in the greater Dallas area, creating efficiencies and driving performance for customers who ship to retailers from the South.
Williamson said the opening of RJW’s second Dallas-area warehouse allows it to serve a growing customer base with a strategic position in the southern corridor, as well as to build its leading consolidation programs with strategically located retailers.
“By controlling inventory from one region, we help suppliers to avoid redundancies, reduce operation costs and compliance fees, improve efficiencies, and achieve a more consistent product flow to store shelves,” the CEO added.
Prioritizing efficiency, environment, and employment
RJW said it’s committed to business practices that minimize its customers’ environmental footprint and promote sustainability. The LEED Silver Certified Mesquite facility is equipped with LED, motion-activated lighting and battery-powered equipment, and it recycles over 180 tons annually across its network.
“Each building is an independent operation, with warehousing, logistics, and dedicated transportation activities,” WIlliamson told us. “Both warehouses offer a full suite of retail logistic solutions that improve in-stock levels, increase sales and optimize every step of the middle mile for our customers.”
RJW is partnering with the Mesquite Chamber of Commerce as it expands its presence in the city.
“Beyond creating approximately 200 jobs with each new warehouse, we work closely with various vendors in the Dallas community to develop a core relationship that exhibits our same culture and passion,” Williamson said. “Creating jobs for Dallas-area workers is a priority for us, and we’re enthusiastic about helping the local community thrive.”
