“Farmers Branch never had a square and a downtown. And 100 years later, we’re like, where’s the center of town? It’s wherever you want it to be.”

.…on how her city has become a growing restaurant destination, via the Dallas Morning News.
Farmers Branch, the suburb on Dallas’ northwest edge, has been many things since its founding as a community called Mustang Branch in the 1840s. One thing it hasn’t been known for until now: a growing restaurant destination.
That began to change in 2021 when Roots Southern Table, a down-home Southern cuisine restaurant, was launched in the city by TV chef Tiffany Derry and Tom Foley, her business partner.
“That was the activity we needed—that we never had,” Cook told the Dallas Morning News’ Sarah Blaskovich, who notes that by 2024, Farmers Branch will have more restaurant destinations than ever before.
Blaskovich points out two “buzzy centers of restaurant activity” in the city: The Shops at Mustang Station and the new restaurant park at Mercer Boardwalk. In her article, she offers overviews of 10 new and forthcoming restaurants in Farmers Branch that are attracting foodies from multiple cities away—from The Drunken Oyster and Absinthe Bar to Locals Craft Beer & Fine Wine to Black Agave Cocina y Cantina.

Long ago, maternity wear was one of the unmentionables of fashion. That changed forever in 1937, when sisters Elsie and Edna Frankfurt founded Page Boy, America's first high-end maternity wear firm, in Dallas. In 1939, the sisters patented their game-changing solution: an adjustable skirt design for pregnant women that "accommodated" a baby bump instead of clumsily trying to hide it. They engineered a "window" in front of the skirt that expanded using drawstrings—while keeping the hemline stylishly parallel to the ground.
