Dallas tech company OneDay is making moves—and fast.
Following a Series A funding round of $5.2 million in January, OneDay has now launched its pivotal new product. And, it was named one of Inc.’s Best Workplaces of 2020 and has grown 90 percent in the past 90 days.
“Our business has rapidly grown since launching our SaaS platform in senior living in early 2017,” Clint Lee, OneDay’s co-founder and CEO, told Dallas Innovates. “Since the start of 2020, we’ve grown from 2,000 licensed communities to 4,000 communities, and added 10-plus employees since closing our Series A.”
OneDay, founded in 2012, provides video storytelling for senior living residents and their families to help capture and share the stories of loved ones. Its first SaaS product leveraged first-of-its-kind technology so senior living communities could digitally preserve the stories of residents. Currently, the company has around 4,000 partnerships with those communities to provide marketing differentiation, shorten sales cycles, and showcase a community’s programs.
But OneDay’s second product is specifically designed for the funeral home industry. Called Reflect by OneDay, the tech collects digital memories from family and friends and stitches them together into a crowdsourced video documentary of a loved one’s life.
OneDay hopes the technology service will be a helpful offering for funeral homes and the approximately 2.4 million funerals held every year in the U.S. Described as a “keepsake that can be treasured forever,” Reflect by OneDay brings personalization to ceremonies or celebrations of life and creates a meaningful reflection of loved ones.
It’s a relevant service, especially during the social distancing era brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic. As the health outbreak continually changes the way people gather and mourn, OneDay has made it easy to virtually connect. Through its mobile app, loved ones are able to invite friends and family to share videos from afar.
“An important piece to coping with a loss is coming together to celebrate your loved one. We believe technology plays a critical role in helping to tell life stories, and we’re proud to make this service available to help people get through those difficult times,” Lee says. “Our hope is to help with the healing process by capturing a loved one’s life, and through Reflect by OneDay, memories can now be easily captured and stored from those who knew the person best.”
Lee himself has a passion for people and storytelling, and he shares OneDay’s mission to help families purposefully share their stories. With the company, he hopes to build a culture centered around service to others. That also translates over to OneDay’s company culture.
OneDay has around 40 team members based in Dallas, Austin, and remotely, but Lee says hiring is continuing throughout the summer has the company continues to quickly grow.
“We’ve moved to an entirely remote workforce, prioritizing our teams’ health and safety above all else. Due to the program that we offer in the senior living space—one that connects families through video technology—we were and still are in a unique position to be helpful to our customers,” Lee says. “We are proud of the impact we are able to make in a difficult time for so many.”
OneDay is revenue generating with nearly 4,000 customers located in the U.S., U.K., and Canada. Looking ahead, Lee says more is to come in the company’s future.
“We remain focused on supporting our customers and responsible growth during a time when our country needs connection with others, more than ever,” Lee says. “Leveraging our technology for families with a loved one in a senior living community or a loved one who has passed, like with our latest product, Reflect by OneDay, is what we are leaning into for 2020.”
