900lbs of Creative will flex its virtual reality muscles by broadcasting 360-degree video at this month’s South by Southwest Conference and Festival in Austin.

The content creation company, based in the Bishop Arts District in Dallas, announced the partnership this week.

The 360-degree video will highlight keynote speakers, live bands, and other fun events during the festival, which begins Friday and runs through March 19.

“The 360-degree videos created by 900lbs will provide a new level of access to the sights and sounds of SXSW.”

SCOTT WILCOX

“We’re always looking for new ways to enhance our content offerings and this year we’re excited to be partnering with 900lbs of Creative to capture those ‘in the moment’ experiences that make our event so unique,” said Scott Wilcox, chief innovation officer for SXSW.

“The 360-degree videos created by 900lbs will provide a new level of access to the sights and sounds of SXSW.”

Steve Deitz, CEO of 900lbs, said the key will be providing behind-the-scenes content through social media platforms and through their website.

“360-degree visual content is the future of storytelling and it is one of our core focuses at 900lbs,” Deitz said.
