CHERI GARCIA TELLS AUDIENCE TO FIND THEIR PASSION

Success hasn’t always come easy for Cheri Garcia, who struggled with addiction in her youth before finding her path as an entrepreneur.

“Entrepreneurship saved my life because of all the high-fives,” Garcia said at The Grove in downtown Dallas where she was the featured speaker for its summer speaker series that kicked off last Thursday.

Garcia is the founder of Cornbread Hustle and the exclusive public relations representative for Mark Cuban Cos. She has a background in TV news and is also the inventor of the Luminous Envy Tanning Bed, which is sold nationwide.

Cornbread Hustle is one of Garcia’s latest ventures. It’s a for-profit staffing agency that helps former inmates transition from life inside the walls of prison to life on the outside.

The program offers job training, social media etiquette, image consulting, and other skills to help them gain employment and stay out of prison.

“Cornbread Hustle is my dream,” she said. “It’s my passion.”

In high school, Garcia said she went from being a cheerleader and softball player to a drug dealer who barely graduated. She didn’t go to college but instead has chosen to educate herself through work and life experiences, which she now shares with others to help them succeed in creating their brand.
