Techweek Kicks Off 2nd Year with Party, Blockchain Discussion

This is the second year for the event that features discussions centered on new technology and the startup community.

Techweek gets underway for its second year today with a presentation on blockchain at the University of Texas at Dallas and a kickoff party.

The Techweek Kickoff Party: Next Gen Technology with Tech in Motion, will be from 6-9 p.m. at Community Beer Co., 1530 Inspiration Drive, No. 200 in Dallas. The event will feature demonstrations of artificial intelligence, connected devices, virtual reality, robotics, along with networking opportunities.

The blockchain presentation will be from 6-8 p.m. at Blackstone LaunchPad at UT Dallas, 2830 Retford Ave. in Richardson.

Moderator for the event will be Gerry Reihsen, a business lawyer, consultant, and founder of multiple businesses, including financial products, real estate, and various investment vehicles. His law firm, Reihsen & Associates and his consulting firm, Primum Consult, focus on blockchain systems and products, digital currencies, and blockchain business models.

The event’s speaker will be Gavin Fearey, who is Of Counsel with Winstead PC.

Fearey helps asset managers steer through custody, disclosure, and the regulatory issues that are important for virtual currencies and other blockchain investments. He is a member of Winstead PC’s Investment Management & Private Funds Industry Group.

2:30 p.m. — Growth of Digital Media: Where are We Going Next? Speakers include Hilary Kennedy, Clarisa Lindenmeyer, Philip Nelson, and Susy Solis. Location: The Dallas Entrepreneur Center, 311 N. Market St, Suite 200, in Dallas.
