Tech Titans’ Grand Challenge to Award $5K to Entrepreneurs for 5G-Enabled Solutions

Representatives from AT&T, Axxess, Ericsson, Nokia, among other tech companies will be the judges for the 5G Grand Challenge. Awardees will receive $5,000, mentoring, and introductions to funding resources.

Tech Titans is hosting a nationwide 5G Grand Challenge for entrepreneurs designing 5G-enabled solutions. The winners are expected to receive a reward of $5K from the North Texas technology association as well as enterprise-level mentoring with possible access to tech resources, an invite to the Tech Titans Awards Gala, and introductions to funding resources.

The selected solutions created by the entrepreneurs will show how 5G “can enable risk-free interactions” during the time of the COVID-19 pandemic, according to Tech Titans. Solutions can benefit work, life, education, or health. Entrepreneurs, startups, and minority/women-certified technology companies based in the U.S. can apply as long as their revenue is less than $2 million or they are pre-revenue.

Finalists will be showcased for a live virtual pitch in front of companies wanting to expand their reach, including AT&T, Argent Associations, Axxess, Cisco, Ericsson, Nokia, and 2thedge.

Tech Titans hopes that the winning entrepreneur or startup will also receive some form of technology licensing, customer and supplier relationships, strategic partnerships, or other business relationships.

“Tech Titans creates connections where people take new ideas and collide them with other people who have their ideas or challenges—an Innovation Collider. Especially in the current environment, we want those idea collisions to happen virtually, across the country. Our goal is to solve the next generation of connection problems with 5G—together,” Amy Wheelus, chair of the Tech Titans board and VP of architecture and strategic planning for consumer technology platforms at AT&T, said in a statement.

The Innovation Collider offers services allowing large companies to partner with entrepreneurs, university researchers, and thought leaders to collaborate on solutions to accelerate business value. Services include extending access to technology expertise, providing executive education, and cultivating resources for companies.

The deadline for applications is August 24 at 5 p.m. CT with no cost to apply. More information and contest rules can be found here.
