Elon Musk’s Boring Co. Names Dallas Development as a Finalist for Free Mile-Long Tunnel

Hoque Global's $1 billion University Hills development—a 270-acre project near the UNT Dallas campus that could “rewrite perceptions” of Southern Dallas—is one of 16 finalists in The Boring Company's "Tunnel Vision Challenge." The winner gets a free tunnel up to one mile long and 12 feet in inner diameter.

The University of North Texas at Dallas and the city of Dallas have announced a $10 million grant from the Communities Foundation of Texas toward the new law enforcement training center coming to the university's campus. Once built, it will become the new home of the Dallas Police Training Academy.

It will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday October 11 on the university campus at 7300 University Hills Blvd. in Dallas. The public is invited to participate or attend the free event, with no registration required.

UNT Dallas Gets $651K TI Foundation Grant to Fund STEM School Principals Master’s Program

Beginning this fall, the grant will cover tuition and fees for candidates entering the rigorous, two-year Master of Educational Leadership program with a STEM concentration. Candidates will be drawn from Cedar Hill, Dallas, DeSoto, Duncanville and Lancaster independent school districts.

The 180-foot Ryan Tower stands at the heart of the UNT Dallas campus and can be seen for miles in every direction. Funded by a $2 million gift from UNT benefactors Amanda and G. Brint Ryan, the tower is meant to serve as "an icon of the university, a symbol for higher learning, and a prominent symbol of the community it serves."
"For me, it symbolizes the heights our students and our future students will attain," UNT Dallas President said at the tower's ribbon-cutting.

Hall of Famer Emmitt Smith purchased the property in 2019 through his real estate company, E Smith Communities, as a place to build and incubate talent. UNT Dallas has now joined Dallas College and other organizations in setting up programs at the renovated center.
