South Oak Cliff Program to Curb Student Absenteeism Expands After First-Year Gains

Dallas ISD’s Todd Middle School posted the district’s largest attendance gain in 2025-26, nonprofit For Oak Cliff said. The program, which pairs home visits with incentives and educator training, now covers four schools.

Dallas ISD's Charmaine and Robert Price Career Institute provides hands-on workforce training in 17 career fields, including architecture, cybersecurity, industrial robotics, automotive technology, and health sciences. A grand opening was held recently for the school's expansion and renovation, designed by Houston-based Kirksey Architecture.

The "Upstander Partnerships" with Dallas ISD and Coppell ISD allow the districts to integrate the museum's history-informed civics and citizenship education via a "consistent and engaging" cross-curricular learning plan for grades K-12. The goal: teaching students to be upstanders, not bystanders, when bullying or discrimination occurs.

Dallas-based STEMuli was founded by CEO Taylor Shead to create a gamified 'metaverse' where kids can earn tokens and have fun while they learn. Piloted since last summer at Dallas Hybrid Prep, it's given both remote and in-class learning an avatar-packed boost.
Now, with a new $3.25 million seed funding round, STEMuli aims to expand its metaverse platform in schools nationally.
