Sabre Adds Global Travel Restriction Tracking to Its SafePoint Travel Risk Management Service

By using SafePoint from Southlake-based Sabre, corporate customers and travel agencies can make more informed decisions regarding travel itineraries, enabling action to be taken at any stage of a trip. As the Omicron variant sweeps the world and causes new travel restrictions, that's more vital than ever.

SafePoint helps protect travelers with visibility into their entire trip. Southlake-based Sabre says it’s a smarter, faster, and more accurate way to account for the safety and location of traveling employees. Travelers can stay aware and easily get assistance if they need it. And now SafePoint offers even more: global travel restriction tracking for COVID-19 issues and other events.

Sabre expanded the travel risk management product in the midst of the global spread of the Omicron variant. The goal: provide information regarding the spread of COVID 19 and new variants as well as destination entry restrictions imposed by countries including masks, vaccinations, health documentation, and quarantine requirements.

Monitors world events in near-real-time, 24/7

Sabre says SafePoint monitors world events in near real-time, 24/7. Utilizing hundreds of data sources, the service constantly looks for events and restrictions that may impact travel arrangements or traveler safety.

That can help Sabre’s travel agencies and corporate customers to make more informed decisions regarding travel itineraries, enabling action to be taken at any stage of a trip.

Crisis alerts

“As travel rebounds, we believe a duty-of-care and crisis alerting solution is imperative to any travel business, especially in a world where travel advisories can change rapidly,” said Saunvit Pandya, senior director of product management at Sabre, in a statement.

“SafePoint is designed to keep travelers and corporate travel managers apprised of critical events in a fast-moving world,” Pandya added. “We’re delighted to work with customers to provide them duty-of-care products to better service their travelers”.

Anna McGurk, operations director at Norad Travel UK, says having such information is “critical.”

“In the current travel landscape, having instant access to travel restriction information is critical to making the right travel-related decisions,” McGurk said in the statement. “Sabre’s SafePoint provides us timely information to help us better serve our customers. It’s a trusted source of information from a trusted partner.”
